Worked well after about 14-20 grams mixed with water and a little cream, mixed with a milk frother. Better than an instant from a competing brand at a much higher cost. Heady and euphoric.

Best Instant Kava I have tried! And I tried A LOT of them... doesn't take too much to get a nice relaxed feel.

I have bought this product several times and have always been happy. The last two times, the flavor, smell and efficiency has changed drastically. It has a chocolate aftertaste and doesn’t numb the mouth like it used to. Something has changed recently and it’s not as good as it used to be.

Up front: This is GOOD Kava. A few reviewers question the efficacy of this Instant Kava but we both find it to be very effective.In reference to negative reviews: NO Kava tastes good. It all tastes like dirt because it's ground up plant root. Regarding the cost: We do twice the recommended serving which costs $2.63 each for the 4 oz. bag. This provides a nice evening "buzz" for the cost for one glass of wine at home from a $10 bottle, and no hangover the next day because well, who drinks one glass?That's our review. Have a great day. Thought it would be good because it’s so expensive but I’m not even sure it’s real kava. It doesn’t taste like kava and it has no effects like it either. No mouth tingling or relaxation or anything. Disappointing

I obviously like this kava since I’ve bought it 7 times. I have to drink 3-4 8 oz cups of it to get a good buzz going. Warning , I have to eat a good meal with it otherwise it can make me feel nauseous. It’s powerful. Beats kneading or shaking. I try to only drink it once in a while for special occasions like Christmas or a birthday and a few more times during the year since it’s so expensive. Also for new people your not supposed to drink alcohol with it or it could harm the liver. I’m not an alcohol drinker so I don’t have to worry. I just feel like warning folks. This is a great product as far as strength though, and convenience. It does taste awful though but any kava that gives you a big buzz will taste bad. I wouldn’t ever buy a kava drink or shot that claims to taste good and also be effective. It’s not. I tried some other product that claimed to do both taste good and give you a real kava buzz but it didn’t work. Total waste of money. Buy this kava if you want a strong buzz. It’s worth the money if you can afford it.

I'm so disappointed. According to Amazon, I've ordered this instant kava more than 35 times, and for the first 30 or so, it was hands-down the best instant kava I've ever had. But something changed in January 2025 or so. The color and flavor are dramatically different from what they were before. The color is lighter. I suppose you might say it's a more mild flavor, but IMO people don't drink kava for the mild flavor, know what I mean? And the potency is remarkably worse, while the amount that will make me feel ill is either the same, or less than before! In short, it's just about exactly like every other instant kava I've ever tried, which is a real bummer. Koa was the best. What happened, guys? Bring your old product back.Lest you think I'm imagining this, I found myself at our summer home a few days ago, on an errand, and discovered a bag of the old stuff, likely from June or July 2024. Sure enough, it's remarkably different in flavor and color, and effects. And I'm almost out. Boo! And I guess bula! Please bring back the good stuff, Koa.

EDIT: they gave me a full refund for my defective bag of kava without even asking. Changed to 5 stars! No further packs have had any issues in any way. Very kind and thoughtful.I like this kava quite a bit! It's stronger than other instant kava I've tried. The taste is more mild, which is definitely a good thing. I really like how it came with a scoop!Minus 1 star because the packaging wasn't fully sealed and the inside of the mailer package was coated in kava dust.
