Nutrient Agar comes premixed in a narrow mouth bottle for mess free pouring and convenient storage. Each bottle makes 16-20 100mm petri dishes. Each bottle comes with an SDS, providing safe handling and storage information. Review: Is what it says, works like it should. - Great product, especially if you don't have time to go through the process of mixing/sterilizing your own nutrient agar. Cause otherwise it is much cheaper to make your own. Product was contam free on arrival. Poured my plates in SAB and inoculated within 3 days. Visible growth in about 4-5 days. Fully colonized around 2 weeks. For the home-scientist, If you have an Insta-Pot, or another way to cook Sue-Vide, this is the best way to liquify this Nutrient Agar Product. Because you can set the exact temp of the water bath, you can set it and forget it, not having to watch a boiling pot. I set it to around 185°F. Plus, once the Agar has re-liquified, you can lower the temp to exactly 130°F so you don't get any condensation in your plates after you poor. Review: So easy and efficient!! - This was PERFECT for my son’s bacteria science fair project. 1 bottle made a little more than 20 petri dishes, depending on the pour. Is there an expiration date?** A: I used it right away since I needed it for an experiment. But I am sure that it will last for at least 6mo to 9mo in the fridge **Q: do you remove the lid completely to microwave? Or do you just loosen the lid. Wanting to avoid exposure to bacteria before pouring in petri dishes.** A: Loosening the lid should be fine, as long as the bottle isn't sealed **Q: Is bottle autoclavable?** A: Yes, but you will need to loosen the cap first. **Q: Do you have to use it all after heating it up? Or, say 1/2 one week keep it in the refrigerator and reheat it to use the other 1/2 a month later?** A: You can heat it up and pour the amount needed and then let it cool and reheat it again.
