What ruined everything for me was the fmc. She knows the whole truth and still treats Roman badly. I literally hate that kind of girl, and I don't know what the author was thinking when she wrote Bella. The story was promising, but it's a shame.

I love Graves's books. She definitely has a unique style. Definitely gonna be one of my fave authors. ✍️ The book? It's a story about two poor souls, about what happens inside foster homes. The system doesn't always help. It's a story about growing up and trying to survive, about love that has roots deeper than you might imagine, about injustice, and about a twisted path that writes different scenarios. I shuddered in disgust several times, and I was moved several times. This book has an atmosphere, a depth. Just read it.

Lemme just start off this review by stating the fact that crack and Roman are both five letter words, coincidence? I think tf not. Roman is so delulu and I love him for it. He’s perfect (on paper. If a man like him existed irl I would run for the hills) I also love Isabella’s character development throughout the book and how she can get Roman on his knees in an instant. He’s such a simp for her. Another 5 star read by miss Avina St. Graves and I can’t wait to read everything else she writes 🧎🏻‍♀️🖤

Amazing one of my favorites

I've been kind of in a book slump and then I read my last book (the KM Moronova arc,) and while I loved it (bought a physical copy and will re-read,) it was also hard on my soul/mental health. Enter Skin of a Sinner. The blurb had me all kinds of intrigued and up for a fun (though possibly slasher-esque) dark romance. While definitely a dark romance, and not slasher-esque, it was also heart breaking in so many ways. (Please read the trigger warnings! There are children in the system in this book and their lives are so, so hard!) I was only halfway through this one when I jumped on to Amazon to pre-order a physical copy. I absolutely fell in love with Roman "Mickey" Riviera and his sheer obsession with Isabella. His drive to keep her safe, protected, adored and cared for in every single aspect of her life was just 🫠🫠🫠. (Not to mention, he's willing to chase her through the woods in a mask...) 🥵🥵🥵 Don't get me wrong, he has his faults - his stubbornness and need to use his fists is over the top and I agreed with Bella in her line of thinking that said need for violence puts her in danger - not from him, but from his enemies and she had some serious, life altering decisions to make. I just wish these two didn't have to go through everything they did in their lives because, my heart. 💔 Thinking of these two, finding each other so young - babies, basically, and the comfort they brought each other... 😭 The amount of healing these two need was huge and I loved every second. I don't want to spoil the book, but this was a wonderful coming of age, tragic, spicy, dark romance, "touch her and I un-a**ve you," story with a HEA (so don't panic.)
