I just purchased a second unit. The first unit lasted 5 years. After about three years the on off switch was a bit squirrely. In the fourth year I was transmitting but not receiving well. Eventually after 5 years it did not work consistently and since we go 20-30 miles off-shore I needed something that worked all the time. The new one works perfect and took only a few minutes to mount.

Absolutely perfect. Compact and easy to install. Had it up and running in less than 30 minutes. Clear, clean reception and plenty loud enough to hear over my inboard engine noise. Simple to use and fantastic that you can couple a GPS unit to the device to provide emergency coordinates. For the price I highly recommend this device.
