Explain Yourself, National Geographic
Buyer beware! The description states that it includes an octopus, and everyone knows that octopuses have eight appendages, right? Imagine my horror as my wide-eyed and trusting child discovered that this was no octopus, but a septapus! There are only seven arms! I simply could not believe that such a reputable establishment as National Geographic would withhold an entire octopus arm from a young child of no more than three. This transgression has clearly affected my dearest offspring tremendously. It has caused him to break from reality and continue to call this imposter an octopus. You can just tell that he is desperately searching for meaning and his place in the world while searching for an appropriate place for his pompom. His eagerness to continue playing with this cursed kit belies a deep sense of loss. He tries to be brave; he smiles and laughs, but I know this betrayal must be eating him up inside. I can tell because he has just asked me for a snack to eat, but I do not have time to indulge his fantasies. I have more pressing matters to attend to. I'm writing this incredibly important review for strangers on the internet to see, and I must get answers for the cause of this catastrophe. I had immediately initiated an inquiry to the illustrious institute as to the cause of such an egregious error. However, my queries for an answer, a replacement octopus, or even a simple shipment of the single, missing appendage have gone unanswered. I thought perhaps it was an honest mistake of forgetting or misplacing the arm in question (octopuses seem very difficult to keep track of on account of their incredible intelligence and tank-escaping skills, as well as their ability to camouflage, not to mention their numerous arms. I imagine one octopus would provide extremities aplenty. To add the responsibility of caring for more of these majestic sea creatures seems ludicrous. Only two octopuses already have sixteen arms divided between them! But I digress) Given the curious lack of response and the obfuscation of transparency for the phantom limb, I can only assume the worst. National Geographic is purposefully and remorselessly depriving innocent, precious children of their rightfully acquired aquatic arms. I hope you're happy on your throne of lies, your dais of deceit, National Geographic. (As and aside, I think this kit could benefit from including more animals such as birds) But, dear internet stranger, in my sadness and disappointment all I can say is no arm, no fowl.

Cute Short Activitiy
I love that these are reusable. It doesn't take our 5-year-olds long to complete one, so I use them as a "while you wait for your turn on the big project" distraction. They're sturdy, they just don't hold our children's attention for very long. They finish one in about 3 minutes, and they're done.

Pretty uninteresting toy
Toddler had no interest and I don’t blame her. It’s overpriced for a few pieces of decorated cardboard and some Pom poms
