H&R Block Honored their 100% Money back Guarantee!
I bought this product as I have done for the past 4 years. Never had a problem. I bought this for my IMAC MACOS. The packaging says for Windows and MAC. I have macOS S/W Ventura Version 13. I downloaded the software from Amazon web site. It downloaded . Then when it came time to open it I received errors on my MAC. After many tries and reloading my software, including MS 365 Office for my IMAC, it still did not open. I made screen shots of the errors. This S/W is nonrefundable with Amazon! So I wrote H&R Block who states on the box that it is 100% Guaranteed and if you are unhappy with the S/W FOR ANY REASON you will get your money back before filing. I submitted my proof of the errors via screen shots. I just received my refund check for $64.97. Took about 3 weeks to receive. Recommend that when you write your letter to Block that you have all of your proof of your problem. The 5 stars is for the 100% Guarantee Refund but not for the S/W. Thanks H&R Block for your 100% Guarantee!!

WAAAAY easier than TurboTax
I've suffered with TurboTax for years and, after reading the equally dismal reviews on this year's version, looked for an alternative & bought H&R Block Premium download. If you know TurboTax I don't have to recant it's horrors. I'm a fairly simple filer: single, retired, Social Security/pension income, 1099s from Vanguard & T Rowe Price. I wanted the "auto download" feature to eliminate the hand entry process - H&R Block worked fine. Before I decided I checked if HRB would be able to upload my 2022 return using Turbo Tax - they said it would and it did - big convenience here. Way less clutter & stalls with HRB. I trusted Turbo Tax so little I would always do a paper return first as their completion process was so unfriendly. With HRB the screens & directions & completion steps were so straight forward I didn't need a paper draft. I had one minor complication as I own an international mutual fund which paid foreign tax forcing me to a Form 1116 - the software flagged it and prompted me to confirm my entries, but it worked. Here is the big shock... ...the above mentioned foreign tax issue stymied me a moment and I actually called their help number, guess what... ...they answered in under 10 minutes. I near fell off the phone. The help was for technical, which was fine as I expected it, but she did tell me a local HRB office might provide live help. Anyway if you've ever tried this with Turbo Tax you know how crazy good this is. So - per my experience this is a FAR better mousetrap. The ease of importing my prior year Turbo Tax return, the automatic retrieval of my Vanguard/T Rowe information - just the sheer absence of headaches makes me recommend this to those who want a simple life.

Worked on MAC Ventura 13.6 for Me. I took the gamble and won!
Wanted to do my part and help others out. I am self-employed. TurboTax decided to increase their price to $95.99, meanwhile this HR Block Premium was $37.49 (caught it on discount last week), which is a HUGE difference. I had been using TT for the past 5+ years. Read a few reviews, and consensus was Amazon fixed the incorrect install files for Premium in late Jan into Feb. BUT... it was still a gamble as no one really updated since or left any real detail (AND the product page says Catalina with only one review mentioning Ventura or even naming their OS) Anyways; I decided to take the gamble to save $58 potentially against TT, got the download files from Amazon and... there it is. DMG file for Premium. Double-click, move it over to Applications folder. Installed perfectly, cranked her up, copy/pasta the Access Key from Amazon, worked. It's fired up, and I just submitted 2023 taxes with this HR Block Premium without a hitch. Not much different from TurboTax to be honest; if you have a half way decent amount of general knowledge on taxes, it will be totally fine. I was also able to Import my 2022 TurboTax Return source file, and it pre-populated everything already. All of the information was correct. Hope this helps!

More malfunction than TurboTax
I've used TurboTax for about twenty years and am not particularly satisfied with the program anymore. Thought I'd give H&R Block a try. Seemed unlikely that Block would be noticeably worse, and, hey, it might actually be an improvement. Unfortunately, I'm here to report that my experience with H&R puff and stuff was noticeably worse than it had been lately with TurboTax, so I guess I'll be back with Intuit next year. H&R Block's program seems to have a degree of counterintuitive rigidity that I'd not encountered with TurboTax, which was irritating but not killer. The dealbreaker was, having printed the finished return, I noticed that the income numbers were completely wrong. Upon checking, I found that the program had, upon its own initiative (think SkyNet on a smaller, less homicidal, scale) to delete my wife's income and a couple of smaller income items. No suggestion was offered as to why, so I had to hassle with re-entering the income and then auditing my own tax return to make sure nothing else had gone haywire. I don't know about you, but for $60, I'm just not that interested in having to following along after H&R Block's "professional treatment," line by line and amount by amount to make sure the damn thing is actually making the handful of simple computations that my uncomplicated financial life requires come tax time. Here, again, is the promise of the modern world made plain: there's the dream, which in this case, is a software program that makes filing taxes easy and worry free, and then there's the reality, which is the program is a piece of trash that'll leave you feeling like you've been put through the wringer and wanting to throw your computer out the window.

Easier than filing manually. Not perfect.
I have been doing my taxes by hand but I heard IRS may soon require electronic returns. Tried HRBlock premium. No problem buying on Amazon and downloading onto Windows 11 on my pc. I have various income: w-2, social security, pension, rental units, stock & REIT investments, dividends, inheritance this year (k-1). Also was partially enrolled in Health Insurance Marketplace. I found the software saved me a ton of work. For example I was able to have it download all of my tedious 1099 miscellaneous data from my brokerage firm (they can do this for Charles Schwab, Vanguard, Fidelity. Maybe others?) . The software does all of the tedious calculations and worksheets behind the scenes. You can jump around to different steps, or examine any tax forms or worksheets it fills out during the process. Just pay attention to whether you are in Federal or State section. Itโs best if you have some familiarity with the tax aspects of your investments. For example, my rentals are condo units. The HOA fees are fully deductible, but the software did not ask for these so I entered them under Other Deductions. Also it did not know that in my state we pay an excise tax on rental income, so I had to enter that myself to get the deduction. The software is fairly intuitive and streamlined, but you must be comfortable using online tools and have some knowledge of what is going on. Otherwise better to have a tax person file your returns. Software got stuck on some worksheet details, I ended up deleting them to move on. (Note: do NOT DELETE any worksheets, later I found out it deletes the related tax forms too!) Have not used any other software but I heard Turbotax is much more detailed (and cumbersome) but might offer more hand holding. I plan to use HR Block software again next year, Iโm done doing them manually. I filed electronically. For federal it was free, state was $20. No more paper printing and mailing chores.

Best value buy for a tax filing software.
I do my own tax returns. I have used H&R' Block's Tax Software for over ten years. For 2022, my tax return involves selling 4 rental properties and more than 150 Schedule K-1s from my passive investments, including oil drilling, conservation easements, private equity, and many CREs. When I mailed out the year 2022 Federal 1040, the total package was 274 pages. I am happy with H&R tax software. I have not encountered any issues in my > 10-year user experience with H&R Block's tax software. I got the downloaded version for this year's 2023 version, as I can easily install the software on my desktop (for at home) and laptop (when I am traveling). I didn't run into any installation issues. The software has no issue importing my year 2022 tax file to recover all deferred passive losses from the year 2022. I cannot comment whether the software provides better guidance to users about entering each piece of tax filing data than other tax software. I know how to enter data and use this tax software to track my tax-related data and calculate math. Actually, for more complicated tax subjects that go beyond normal users, I suspect other consumer-level tax software could provide better guidance. Per feedback from other folks of an investment club, the Turbo tax would ask users to duplicate the same Schedule K-1 entity multiple times if the Schedule K-1 has a non-0 value in boxes 1, 2, and 3. This is not the case in H&R Block's tax software; I can enter the box1, box2, and box3 values from the same Schedule K-1 as one entity. The software automatically splits box1, box2, and box3 into three separate entities for deferred passive loss tracking. I took the software's capability for granted till I heard from others about the inefficiency of Turbo Tax Software. I could not believe how miserable I would be if I used Turbo Tax because I have more than 150 Schedule K-1 documents. In summary, I am happy to get the year 2023 H&R Block's tax software, a great value buy.

Guides You Through and Easy to Use
I have used H&R Block software for over 20 years. I have rental properties, investments, an LLC, and we did have a business with employees. It covered everything. So much less expensive than an accountant. I've also learned if so many deductions, and other info saving me 10's of thousands of dollars. The CPA's I used prior to H&R Block never properly did my taxes as they figured I would never know any better. I ended up buying this software and found they did it improperly. I redid my taxes for the 3 years and ended up getting back just under $15k in overpayments. I tried Kiplingers and was not as happy with it.

First Time User of HRBlock Premium
After over 25 years of using another popular tax software, I decided to make a change for tax year 2023. From other reviews, there was a problem with downloading the correct version from Amazon. As of January 6, 2024, the problem seems to have been corrected. I was able to download an install the software with no problems. Transferred my data from 2022 in the other program with ease and no problems. I am very pleased with my decision to make the move to HRBlock Premium. Update: I completed my returns and I have to say I still rate HRBlock Premium 5 stars. It was a bit of a learning curve. It was a little rough printing the returns. But the price and having control of my data is well worth it.
