To control depth of insertion use these oil hole covers with beaded side wall which provides a definite insertion limit. Zinc plated. Tapered shanks seat snugly within a drilled hole. Review: good covers - I installed these in an antique piece of machinery to replace the ones that had gotton broken off over the years. Unfortunately Gits doesn't make ones to match the old ones (they are larger diameter above the drive-in part) but these fit and work well. I bought 4 and 1 arrived broken, but desertcart sent out a replacement one right away. Review: Perfect fit - Item fit perfectly, original from ~1950 was made from brass, this appears to be steel. It tapped right into the headstock of an Atlas 618 lathe and hopefully will last another 70 years.
