This is something I've been hoping for! Main factors: Uses common economical Butane canisters that can be bought by the case. Doesn't use adapter or hose, it's made for the Standard Butane bottle. It's bigger and more sturdy and stable that most backpacker stoves. I ordinarily use little tiny ones that go on the smallest Butane cans with the threaded Lindahl (?) valves. Now there are refillable ones! So they are great with a tiny kettle or a metal cup or mug, some kind of camping gear. This seems questionable when you want to put a big kettle, or a cooking pot or frying pan or jaffle iron (!) on the miniature stove and it suddenly seems tippy and dangerous. The stove is made very nicely, unusually sturdy and positive mechanism clicks when the legs are in position, it folds up easily, the adjusting valve looks like a micrometer and not just a wire loop... I don't know if it's a backpacking thing exactly. I must have twenty three butane and propane stoves, and a dozen or so for alcohol, then a few for kerosene and gasoline. I MIGHT go camping someday, and will surely live through another few hurricanes. Ah, one or say three or four of these things would probably be enough! If you were going to have ONE for emergencies this would be good. If you were going to keep it in your house you might go with one that's like a little stove and comes with a plastic briefcase. I think I'll keep this one in my van!

We have gone through our share of camping stoves but most are bulky or come in a large case. While those are fine for certain camping events, sometimes you need something. You can just throw in your bag and be lightweight and compact for day hikes or a quick overnight stay. This is perfect for that. It folds up nice and compact and works well. Make sure you understand this works with butane and not propane. It also is not a self igniter so make sure you have something to assist with that.

I was suspicious about the 5 star and few ratings when I bought this. Since I could return it, I decided try it and fully expected to be returning it.It’s definitely a keeper!Very compact for burner size. Vey good (but not JetBoil Genesis good) simmer control and easy setup/takedown.I use will mostly use this for car camping as a supplement and power outages.

My husband loves this little stove uses it all the time.

Adjustable heat. Pack small. Best stove of this type that I know of
