How large is the magnifying glasss?

The overall diameter is roughly 1-7/8"'
The lens itself is 1-1/2", made of glass not plastic and ground well.
A magnet holds the cover shut and can be opened with one hand.
I wear mine every time I go out, in case I need it, which is often..
If wearing anything low cut I put a longer chain on to hide it if I am wearing another necklace that would clash.
Works well alone also.
I plan on getting a silver one to fit with other accessories.
Last but not least, it is well made.

Is the magnifying part glass or plastic?

It is glass and ground well.
I bought it for the magnifier not the bling, and wear it at all times out.
Overall it is well made, however I change the chain for a heavier one after about a year.

Question 3

Does anyone who replaced the chain know of one that I can order from Amazon that will kit through the small loop?

The loop is not that small, I replaced my chain with a larger one, about 2x in chain size.
It is a separate piece.
I did not order my chain from Amazon, but bought it in the brick and mortar store Michael's.
I wear it all the time, as it is more functional that decorative to me.

I got one to give as a gift, like it so much I then got me one.  Just got 5 months ago (12/16), has not tarnished. Love it. SR
