Very good quality, at a super affordable price point
I had a Hohner melodica for a few years and now that my kids are getting older they want to play with all of my instruments (Ukes, Guitars, Drums, etc.) so I am always looking for affordable versions of the same instruments which they can play with without me worrying about them breaking my more expensive ones. On the search of a new melodica I ran across this one, which is around one third of the $ I paid for mine. Lately I have been betting on these Chinese brands who are just starting on the market (I own several instruments from the Donner brand which are absolutely fantastic in quality and cost). I have a theory that they are likely made in the same factories as the name branded ones. This melodica is a prime example of that theory. They look and feel exactly the same. Someone mentioned that his unit was out of tune, I did not experience that at all, and I must say that they are identical in craftsmanship and quality. I will post some side by side photos here so that you can compare. The things that I really like: - The spring action on the keys are spot on with a nice balance while not being too soft yet very comfortable to play. It tells me that it will likely las a while - The extra mouthpiece which allows you to use the melodica in a flute like position in addition to the hose which makes it possible to play on your lap like a mini piano - The Gig bag is super nice with both a handle and a shoulder strap - The sound holes are on the top of the instrument which projects the sounds much better than my other one which has the holes on the bottom Things that I don't like: - Though I do not use it while playing (I prefer to hold the onto the body). The only thing that bothers me is the hand strap which is also the case on my current one. It does not feel sturdy enough for a lot of handling. Overall, if I knew about this Eastar brand when I got my first expensive one and of the quality of its build I would have definitely gone for it, especially at its price point. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a melodica. I hope this helps your shopping as I wish there was a review like it when I was looking for mine. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below the review and I will do my best to answer it. Cheers!

Palpable Hit
Also happy and audible hit. Players making music straight off, lots of fun, fascinated kids and some animals. Still being played after the New Year. They keep finding other instruments to jam with. It will make appearances at parties to come.

Magical instrument
Best of many worlds. Wind and keyboard instrument. Make vibrato like making a sandwich, can’t go wrong. Sounds like a master musician serenading on every notes. Can play multiple notes from a wind instrument all in one. Very easy to play! Good quality for the value. Cons: tons of saliva running through the keyboard. Tube came with the instrument is flexible, not as precise timing (but ok) and lower notes harder to make. Replaced with silicone tubing (5/8” ?) for stiffer, faster response. Mouthpiece ok, need something more comfortable and easier to hold.

Fun to mess around with.
Overall this is a nice little melodica for 22 bucks. It is a 37 key melodica which puts it above the 32 key competition. It is fun if you want to mess around with it, but be warned it is most certainly not perfect. The biggest problem from a musical standpoint is that it is not in tune with itself. For instance, if you play a high G and a low G, you can hear waves in the sound which means that it is not in tune with itself. All in all, it is a good novelty instrument but that is how it should be treated. If you are looking for professional sound quality, then I would advise you look somewhere else. If you are looking for a cheap melodica to have fun on, then you have found your melodica.

A lot of fun for the money!
A lot of fun for the money! If you know how to play a piano you will enjoy it.

Lots of fun for an old bloke, but try a piece of silicon tube over the mouthpiece on the tube
Because I am an old guy (76) with COPD (still miss Lucky Strikes) who remembers playing nose flutes and jaw harps out on the college quad trying to attract Beatnik girls in the 60s, and who still has lots of thoughtful, moving melodies deep within, I decided to latch onto one of these babies. Perhaps, Orpheus-like, I could charm the Underworld into giving me a few more good years. You never know. Well, I'm not sure I could charm even my sweetie with a rousing rendition of "Oklahoma", but my melodica is a blast to play with. Sure, I'm learning the fingering, and having trouble with it because, well, my hands just want to go their own way. (Maybe they just want to play Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way"? I know it's inside me.) But it is just a pleasure to inflate my lungs and figure out how to piece together recognizable songs with my Melodica. And you will have the same pleasure. Honestly. I did watch a video where the Brit teacher suggests trying the 32 key rather than the 37. I took that advice, and I'm glad I did. But whatever you want to buy, get one of these babies if you love music, especially if unfortunately you sing as well as I do. One thing. The tips of the air hoses are hard plastic. I had trouble grasping them with my teeth and biting down just hard enough to told the mouthpiece steady while inhaling or exhaling through my mouth. (Inconstant muscle force might - just might - be a sign of early old age). So I just got some food-grade (that's important) silicon tubing (1/2 inch inner diameter; it's on Amazon for about $9), slipped the end over the mouthpiece, and snipped off just enough to reach the end: maybe 3/4 inch. Works perfect. Now I can bite a little harder without straining my jaw muscles but I can relax my mouth and lips in order to breath. I figure on roll will last (it's a little hard to say this) a lifetime. Even if you are younger. Bottom line: for an old person who has the Music in him but who needs to aerate his lungs, this is just perfect. Imagine an AARP Melodica Band on tour, bringing harmony to the world. Me and your grandparents with our silicon tubes. Oh, yes!

It arrived quickly, minimal (as in just right and not too much) packaging. Nice carry bag for the price. I would have preferred just a little bit more padding, but I really can't complain. One key is squeaky, which I may try to fix sometime. From what I've read, it is a good idea to open up the instrument regularly to clean it (every 2 or 3 uses? Haven't figured that out.) Although not a huge deal to disassemble the thing (I've only watched a couple of videos online), it would be nice if opening the thing didn't involve screws and screwdriver. I have no idea, though, what would be convenient yet robust enough to last (and not open by accident.) The keys feel firm/solid, the instrument is super portable. For such an inexpensive instrument, I am very impressed. The thing sounds terrific and is a super instrument to learn music theory (notes, scales, chords, transposing, etc. etc.) I've only had it a few days. I'll try and update this review in 3-6 months after having had some decent experience with it.

We were instructed to order this from my son's preschool teacher. My son practices on it at school and at home as well. He has been using it for about 5 months now and the quality is excellent. It is still in amazing shape as when we first ordered it. The sound from the instrument is nice and clear. It definitely entertains my son for days on end! I recommend it!

I am just delighted with the Eastar 37 keys. Base F3 below C4 to Treble F6 gives you all you need for the Treble Clef. The keys are a tad thinner than regular piano keys, and for someone like me who has big hands, I had no problem playing the notes. Delightful sound, like a mouth organ or or piano acordian . I am learning keyboard and sight reading, so I can put the Eastar into it's handy carry bag it weighs just under 2 lbs , or 52 Gs if your metric, and go to the park or to the beach and play like I would a regular keyboard. I just love it, well designed, and so easy to play a great gift for anyone from 7 to 77 ( which is my age ) . It comes with a mouth piece which is d etachable, I found with blowing through the mouth piece, the keys were hard to see, but with the two expandable 22 " ( 54 cm ) blowing tubes, it was easy to place the keyboard on a table and play like a regular keyboard, just breathing normally in and out. Great valuew for money. and FUN 😁🎶

I love it. This is better than Yamaha's for a fraction of the price. Keys are less noisy, and the tuning is consistent across all keys. I don't understand why all melodicas are a little bit sharp. Another thing to mention is that the screws became rusty after few months of playing and the lower plastic frame started to buzz on the low notes after opening it a few times (so I had to apply some tape). But I can't really complain for that price. Happy with my melodica and I just ordered another one to experiment some microtonal tuning for Arabic music.
