Works unbelievably well. Don't buy much!
I have three dogs - two Bichons and a Yorkie (started by "dog sitting" two of them for my kids, and by the time they were ready for them back, we couldn't let them go). Got one of the Bichons from the Animal Shelter, and found out when we got him home that he is mostly blind from cataracts. A great dog, and is fine inside unless you move the furniture, but outside he reacts to everything by barking at full volume, until he can get close enough to give the offending party (neighbors, other dogs, the UPS guy...) a full sniff. And of course, few dogs (or people) are mellow enough to be sniffed by Cujo (even if Cujo looks like a cotton ball). The Yorkie, all four pounds of him, is very possessive and protective. Thinks he is a Rottweiler. Barks at everything, growls when anyone comes up to the blind dog, chases cars. One of our neighbors, with a Shihtzu, walks by every day. Scooter wants nothing to do with Riley, the blind one, or Rocky, the Yorkie. Riley barks so loud we can't have a conversation with Scooter's person. We had gotten a muzzle, and the collar that shoots a spray when the dog barks - neither helped. When the Pet Corrector came, I took it out with me when Scooter was walking by. Riley starts barking, Scooter backs up. I let loose a spray. Riley stops barking and looks at me. Starts barking again. I spray. Riley stops barking, looks at me, and tries one more little "woof" and gets a spray again (I am not spraying HIM, just in the air). Stops barking completely and sits down. The neighbor was AMAZED. He said "how long have you been using that?" and I said "oh about two minutes now" and he was MORE amazed. I had to spray again the next day, but after that I just made a "Pssssttttt" noise and he stopped. The Yorkie is an escape artist and a runner. He got out, I got the spray, and when he heard it, he went right into submissive mode and let me pick him up.I have also had success just showing him the can and making the Psssttt noise. It has been a few months, and I have had to redo the training a few times, but in general I will have these cans forever. I bought one big one and a two pack of the smaller ones, to keep in my pocket during a walk, and they still seem pretty full. One warning - they have something like freon in them, and my husband put one in his back pocket during the walk, without the cap. It must have gone off, because he said his butt got frozen all of a sudden. (yes, I laughed) Again, don't spray AT the dog - it isn't necessary. Just spray in the air. For mine, it is the sound that gets them, and maybe the smell. I also say "NO BARK" or whatever the problem is, to reinforce the command.

This works... For your own sanity, buy it!
If you have cats, you've probably made that hissing sound to get them to stop biting something, stop clawing something, or stop them from doing some crazy cat thing. If this sounds like you, and you are starting to realize just how much you've been mimicking their hissing, you need to get this. It works. Buy it. Stay stocked up for your own sanity.

A must-have for training dogs with aggression issues!
Great training tool for dogs!! A must have - especially if you have a young, large, hyper dog. During teen years, they can be aggressive. I used this to interrupt my pup’s aggressive behavior. The sound is so loud and startling that she immediately stops barking. This gives me time to instruct her to sit. Amazing, life-saving product. Please make sure not to spray dog with this. It’s pressurized air - it burns.

Great for Unruly Pup, Increases Anxiety in Already Well-Behaved Dog
The other reviewers are correct, this is a GREAT product for training an unruly pup. I have a 12 week old Great Dane/English Mastiff mix who is quite a handful. Chewing is the biggest problem we have, and this can works beautifully to correct that and many other behaviors. I have used it to get my 2 year old Great Pyrenees to stop barking in the house—works like a charm. I read a lot of reviews before buying this, but there’s one thing I did not take into consideration and didn’t see in reviews. I have a 7 year old Goldendoodle (75% poodle) who is an angel. My vet has told me countless times, “you’ll never get that lucky with another dog.” She never had training, but she obeys beautifully. Put a plate of food on the floor and leave the room, she won’t touch it. At least not until you tell her it’s okay. She comes when called and goes when told. The only negative with her is that she has the poodle anxiety. This product has greatly increased her anxiety. I used it a couple of times in the living room with the puppy, she won’t go into the living room now. It works SO well for the puppy, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. But if you have a naturally very well behaved dog with anxiety, you might have to use caution with this. Otherwise great.

Quiet at last!!!!!
I bought this product and another after reading the reviews for excessive dog barking. My little female chihuahua has a very shrill bark and once she gets started she just won't stop. We have tried many things and can't believe the results after one use. This sound really startled her and she stopped barking immediately and wanted to leave the room. I praised her after she got quiet and now all I have to do is show her the can and she stops whatever she is doing which is barking. I did buy another product and it worked as well but this is my preferred product as the other is a spray and I worry about using it too often due to her tiny size which is under 4 pounds. Since we have used this product I don't have barking issues when the doorbell rings or barking when people come in. The first time she has been quiet in almost a year. We live in a very green woody area and she doesn't even bark at the squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks that visit our backyard on a regular basis. Now she just stands and looks at them and once in a while she will grumble a little at them. Before using this product she would bark for an hour if I didn't stop her but would start up again as soon as I stopped trying to make her stop. It was just a never ending exercise in trying my patience. Now life is bliss as all I have to do on the rare occasions that she does bark is show her the can and she stops IMMEDIATELY! Even in the car she has stopped barking at people parking next to us. Again, she does grumble under her breath and I say Quiet and she usually stops. I do allow the grumbling for a moment or two as she is female and as a female I understand the importance of having the last word. LOL. All in all I love this product and would encourage anyone that is facing this issue or other problems as the instructions cover other behavioral problems to just try this product. I couldn't be happier or more excited about this product. It is safe to use on my 3.5# chihuahua so I know it would be safe for larger dogs. I have noticed that the spray noise is increased if you continually push down on the button but my little girl stops as soon as the first little hiss comes out of the can. I did push it all the way down once and it gave a very loud hiss that startled even me. Because of this we are much happier and quieter. Great product

Works for my dog!
My little corgi/sheltie mix was attacked by a great Dane and almost killed. She spent 2 months in the hospital recovering. Ever since then she has been very dog aggressive. Her mentality was I have to get them before the get me. I don't blame her, I know that was very traumatizing for her! But the problem is she is a small dog and when she gives off "I'm going to kill you" vibes to another big dog, it puts her life in danger. As soon as she sees another dog it's like she has tunnel vision and she only sees and hears one thing, the other dog. She doesn't listen to commands, doesn't even care about treats (which is really unusual for her). I thought we were going to have to stop going for walks because everytime she's see another dog she'd go nuts! Not going on walks would be so sad because she loves loves loves going on walks. So I thought I would give this a try because I would hate to take her walks away from her. And can I just say I am honestly so surprised. I didn't really have high hopes, but I should have! First time she say another dog, I sprayed it and told her to come and sit. She looked back at me like wtf did you just do and came right beside me, sat, and watched the other dog walk by. I was astonished. Thought ok but maybe she'll get used to the sound and it won't work anymore. Saw another dog, this time it was a big dog...so I though ok here we go. She started her freaking out, I sprayed.. she came right beside me and sat down watching the other dog. I couldn't believe it! We didn't go on walks for a couple days because it was poring rain so I thought ok she is gonna forget all we learned. So we saw another dog, she started her aggressiveness a little bit...and all I did was hold the can up.. .didn't even spray it and she came and sat down right beside me. I am so happy! Would definitely recommend. Its worth a try. Now my dog can continue to go on walks and live her best life!

you need three hands to use this but the noise does work
An older version with a red cap worked better, since you could hold the can in one hand and operate the top button easily to cause a noise the dog doesn't like. The version (with the blue cap) you need to use both hands, one to hold the can, one to press the button which is very hard to press. Stupid, actually because you usually don't have two free hands. And the timing doesn't work for you to say "Quiet," press the button, and "good dog, good quiet." I bought four, having one by each door ready. Instead, now I put the dog in "time out" in the laundry room when she barks uncontrollably, saying "laundry room" sharply. she stays there for two minutes and is now quiet when she hears me say "laundry room". it works better than the hissing snake sound.

Would have given it 6 stars if I could!
I generally do not write reviews unless a product that I have purchased is excellent or very poor, but the Pet Corrector has turned out to be so amazing that I just had to write a review. I have 2 French Bulldogs, which are not barking dogs by nature, but our newest puppy barks at anything and everything, which in turn, causes the older dog to bark. I tried a squirt bottle initially, but it was only so effective and messy as well. The breeder from whom I purchased my puppy told me about Pet Corrector, so I read the reviews, and although a bit skeptical,I decided to give it a try. The first time I used it with my puppy, he actually BARKED at it, so that was a little discouraging. But the next time I used it, he started to get the message. After just several days of use, both dogs have stopped barking whenever the doorbell rings or someone comes into the house and when we are outside and they hear the dog next door barking (maybe I should give my neighbors a can of it). All I have to do now is say "No bark" and they comply; if there is a chirp, I only have to show them the can and they are immediately silent. Also, jumping on people is another problem. They are exuberant little dogs and love everyone they meet, but most people don't appreciate jumping dogs, especially little people like my small grandchildren. So now all I have to say is "No jump", and they know immediately what I mean. I still cannot get over what an incredible and effective product this is; I never thought that I could find a solution for these undesirable behaviors, short of hiring a trainer to work with my dogs. I would highly recommend this to anyone at their wit's end with a barking or jumping dog.
