Nice backplate to give the card a "finished" look
Solid reference pcb card from PNY. Nice backplate to give the card a "finished" look. Overall the 900 series cards use less wattage and tend to run cooler than their 700 series (and/or titan) counterparts; so, I was expecting better temps but did not expect such a drastic difference. Uningine benchmark test put the card's temp at 60c and I ran Valley for a little over an hour and she still didn't go above 60c and running an avg. fps of about 130; So, nice cool temps considering it's not liquid cooled and a good frame rate. Haven't bothered to overclock it yet -- personally don't have the need right now.

card works great, but
So I got it. Box looked alright and shipped with no worries. Opened it to find the plastic holding the card was a bit hagard inside the box. Then after getting it out of the plastic, the metal bit you screw into the case was bent. I bent it back and the card works just fine. Not sure how it happened but from what I saw it wasn't a shipping issue.

GTX 980 Hands Down Dopest GPU Ever!
This card.. Let me tell you how awesome it is. I upgraded from an old Radeon 6870 and wow! This card is amazing, I use it for editing 4K video, video gaming, 3D Prototyping models and more. I would definitely get another card if I needed one. This card can play ANY game out there right now and prob for the next few years. If your tired of playing sub 60Fps in games get this card and you will not be disappointed.

DISPLAY PORT output goes black on startup
UPDate:11.24.2014GeForce Hotfix driver 344.80 corrects this issue for most================It's the best thing ever when it works BUTEspecially for 4k monitors you are going to want to use display port 1.2 for 2160 @60hz (Unless you monitor supports HDMI 2.0) and as of Nvidia 344.48 driver a lot of people are getting black screens on the log in screen from boot up. This is usually corrected after a number of restarts but be warned.(Also turns out switching from display port to another output does not eliminate the start up issue every time)Will probable be corrected eventually with a new driver release but this problem is months oldHere's a link to the forum where a solution if any would be discussed if the issue is resolved:https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/777412/geforce-drivers/black-screen-on-windows-login-344-16-and-11-on-displayport-with-gtx980-sc/16/
