EKO 93772R-1 Ecofly Dual Compartment Recycle Step Bin

It arrived one day later, no problem but it had two dents in it. We pushed them out and turned the trash can toward our cabinet.

Bought at another store for $85 - looked great but total form over function. Have had for a month and it's the worst. The two bins are both too small to be effective. It doesn't fit a tall kitchen bag - has about half the capacity and because it is so narrow nothing falls to the bottom. When I pull out the bag it is only a quarter full. I hate it. Poor CS -Here is my email to them and their one line reply.I have the Eco-Fly dual compartment step can. I thought I would love the recycling compartment but I'd actually prefer one compartment for trash - the 20L canister fills too quickly and the way that the sides are concave - it is impossible to get a bag full of trash removed without ripping the bag - it's like the bag of trash is being hugged tight and won't let go. It's a huge pain. The recycling compartment works well since bottles and cans can just get dumped out easily but it would be better to just have the whole capacity for garbage. I wanted to love this recycle bin because up until now, I have been using a big pink storage bin in my kitchen. It would often get messy since liquids would drain out of containers, plus, it didn't have a cover and anyone could see what we throw away.This bin is beautiful. It's a very nice and sturdy piece of equipment and it goes perfectly with the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. It looks a million times better than my old pink storage bin. Plus, when you put your foot on the level to insert an item inside, it very slowly closes on its own, giving you a moment to put it in. Or, you can lock it open if you so choose. It's not very heavy, and the inserts (green and black container) and nice and long.So why only three stars? It's just too dang small. Most of the recyclables I use every day will not fit. A pizza box? No way. The multitude of Amazon boxes? Forget it. I drink 3 of the 1.5L Evian water bottles every day, and putting those three bottles inside fills one entire bin. I've had this for a couple weeks now and it's empty because nothing will fit! I find myself having to go outside to the main recycle bin to throw my things away. The description suggests that the black bin is for garbage and the green for recycles, but as I already have a built-in garbage bin in my home, I intended to use this fully as a recycle bin.I really wish that instead of two skinny bins, it could have been one bin with a middle insert. This would have been a game changer for me, because nothing fits. I do, however, see this recycle bin working well in my office. One side could be for paper, and the other side for any small water bottles or other small items. But for a kitchen? The product description above suggests that it's for a kitchen ("The brushed stainless steel finish is fingerprint resistant and matches most kitchen appliances.") but I can only see it working in an office.

I’ve been using this in my kitchen for about a year. I like the fact that it has two sides to it, recyclable and regular trash. I tried to find special trashbags for this, but they were not durable enough, I then just started using regular trash bags. What I do is when it gets full as I pull the bag out and make sure that I fill it up with more trash and waste. The only thing that I do not like it’s a plastic at the top of the cans inside has Sharp edges and will cut your fingers when trying to pull out the cans. I now have to switch the sides of the cans to prevent myself from slicing my fingers due to the broken off plastic. I have another trashcan waiting to be used but I want to make sure that I get all of my use out of this one.

Pros - this is actually a beautiful piece. Best looking trashcan I've ever owned, and it matches my brushed stainless appliances, so looks like it was made for my kitchen. I love that the lid doesn't slam down when I live my foot. It's easy to clean, and looks high tech even though it's "just" a trashcan.Cons - I hate the bin size. my bags don't fit, and my recyclables don't fit. I wish I'd had this years ago when almost nothing was recyclable - these days, with practically everything recyclable, I spend half my time crunching things down to try to fit them in.Bottom line - make the whole can and the individual bins bigger, please.

alright, the last thing you'd expect to hear about a recycle bin is that it's beautiful but when you're used to using garbage bags or cardboard boxes for your recycles this is a serious upgrade. We used one side for glass recyclables and the other for cans/metal. The only downside that I see is it doesn't take itself to the recycle center... and we seem to have issues remembering to do that since the ugly cardboard box isn't sitting right there to remind us every time we go out the door.

I really like the design of this dual compartment recycle bin. The no-hand step opening makes it easy to put in recyclables when my hands are full. The smaller interior bins are easy to pull out of the main bin. It's easy to clean all of the components. The only negative for me is the size of the bins as they get full very quickly. This is not abnormal for a dual compartment container, but it's something worth mentioning. It's well made and opens and closes smoothly.
