Great read. Great characters. Great fun.
There are a lot of things to like about Lux. After a summer in which every novel, every movie, seemed to be centered around some former special forces operator who’d been done wrong and was now seeking vengeance against those what done him wrong - yes, I’m looking at you Red Notice & The Gray Man & Target Acquired - it was nice to see a story about someone who is not yet ready to whup ass and take names.I enjoyed having a character like Lux, who at 9 years old is a genius who’s more intelligent and savvy than most adults, but also still has the goofiness and vulnerability that come with being a kid. I enjoyed the interactions between Lux and his dad - a brilliant physicist who’s still trying to understand just how exceptional his son is. And I enjoyed the interactions between Lux and his classmate, Prissy, that helped keep Lux grounded despite his advanced scientific acumen. Even more, I enjoyed the interplay between these various relationships that helped round Lux out as a character - a protagonist you could root for.Even more than the characters, I liked that the story, while complete in itself, is volume one of a 5-volume series - that it set the foundation for an epic series of adventures that will be even better, collectively, than the single novel was. It reminded me of the enjoyment of comics and graphic novels of years gone by before everything became binge-able. It’s nice to have the chance to absorb a good story and look forward to the next, to enjoy the anticipation and sense that there’s more to come. Finally - and probably most of all - I enjoyed the sci-fi elements of the story. At its best, sci fi makes you ask yourself “is that even possible?” “Is this going to be reality for us one day?” It makes you Google “using magnetic fields for propulsion” and then daydream about whether the sci fi story you’re reading today is going to be the science of the near future. The same day I was finishing Lux-1, the CNN headline was “China’s New ‘Sky Train’ Doesn’t Need Power to Levitate on a Magnetic Track” and I thought, “Amazing. Pence nailed the potential magnets have make an exponential leap in travel both on earth and beyond.”Overall, I greatly enjoyed Lux 1 and look forward to The Pod as soon as my son hands it off to me.

fun book
This is a fun book, I only rated it at 4 because even though it was a good read and the story was good the editing was just fair, it made reading a little confusing.I will be getting and reading #2 this weekend and #3 when it comes out. Like I said a fun book.

Excellent new series, great stories!
Fans of Ell Donsaii, April, and Family Law series' will likely find much to love in this exciting story! Excellent characters, situations, and world-building as novel tech and radical discoveries reshape our possible future. Unfortunately, human nature leads to problems, as usual, when greed and avarice are unleashed against our very young hero.

Entertaining
I really liked this book. Lux is just an awesome character. It's a fun, quick read. The author does seem to have a few political axes to grind. They don't take away from the story, but it might put some people off.Highly recommended.

Interesting and Believable Tech
I love the details and technologies discussed so far. I like that the main character is smart and resourceful. About to start the next one!

Reminds me of …
…reading Tom Swift stories long ago. A genius kid, one parent, super income from “patents & licensing”, inventing and invention and inventing. Even has a few bullies that have learn the hard way not to mess with him.I loved Tom Swift and I’m loving the Lux books too! Thanks for the entertaining stories!

A Fun, provocative introduction
The author has created an intriguing story with well thought out “what if” science speculation. There are some minor typo/ editing glitches, which distract from the flow of the story, but the author’s character development and the development of conflict characters make for a very enjoyable read, I look forward to reading more of the series

Editor needed!
I hope the author will invest a little time and money, find an English lit. major student or highschool English teacher and let them edit the books. The concept is intriguing, the plot moves forward at a good pace but the sentence structure, punctuation and grammar... Oi vey!!! There's simply no way to read the series without cringing half a dozen times per page...This tale could have been SOOO much easier to read and worthy of a five stars rating with a little effort and attention to details. Please, Mr. Pence, take the time and read your books as if you're one of your readers.I will upgrade my ratings and buy the series if edited and re-published.

A fun read
The story is well written and paced. It is just fun and not too serious. It has enough elements that make you think "is that what is happening here too?"

Unusual, makes you think.
The inlikely hero and heroine seem to have access to loads of information and not saddled by others' ideas like the normal student. Interesting

Enjoyable easy to read
I saw this book while waiting for another order to come in and became interested in the story. By the time I'd read the last page I was hooked and couldn't wait to read the second, then the third and fourth. Now I'm eagerly waiting for book 5 to see what happens next. The recommended age is a LOT younger than me but I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 books. I have ordered Lux 5 and hope this book isn't the end of their story.

Nice! I like it!
Very technically well written. I barely follow the science but I love it coz it's realistic enough. Wish I was that smart. Anyways, this was a nice diversion for me. So thank you! Keep up with the great work! I can't wait for the next book!
