I bought this because I'm insulting a garden shed to use as a DIY workshop.This is the best way to cut down the 8' X 4' , 1" thick polystyrene sheets.It will do short cuts very quickly but once you go more than about 2 foot through 1 inch thick polystyrene it slows down.Perfect for small projects and capable of handling occasional larger ones, but if you want to do large cutting projects frequently than maybe look for something more powerful.

You need a big shed mask & glasses.

The media could not be loaded.  I received this tool today with much excitement. I set up my work space as i was making some content for my social media. Unfortunately tool has been on for over 10mins and not heating up at all. When I first plugged it in, the green light flashed several times before it became stable. As i sit here typing, I am still waiting for the tool to heat up. Manual said warming up takes 5-45 secs but still not warm over 10mins later. I think they have sent me a defective item and I will be asking for a refund.

Easy to use to cut polystyrene. You need a steady hand for doing intricate work as cutter goes through the material like butter.Best used in well ventilated area.Use a metal ruler as a straight edge for cutting straight edges.

Great product

This is terrible. I’ve tried to use this on 50 mm PIR board and It’s simply does does not have the heat either the items faulty or these things are very much overstated / overratedBecause I’ve tried to use it, it’s now in a condition where I can’t return it so I feel like I’ve been ripped off.

I was disappointed with the performance of this hot wire product in cutting upholstery foam. It left a ragged edge and I ended up getting my electric knife out of the kitchen cupboard to do the job properly. I am returning as it is not fit for purpose.

Heats up quickly, works as expected.

I actually bought this not for crafting but to carve up the huge styrofoam padding that came with a large TV and won't fit in the trash can. This thing cut through that stuff like butter and I was able to go fairly quickly without having to stop to let the probe regain heat. It does bleed off heat as you go but you can still keep a good steady pace without having to pause It is important when doing this sort of heavier duty cutting to do so in a well ventilated area unless you just like the smell of melting plastic. It was cheaper to buy this and put the stuff in my can than make even one dump run and now I have the tool for future use. Good value.
