Amazing razor!
The Parker Variant Open Comb has completely changed my daily shave routine—in the best way possible. I’ve tried a lot of razors over time, and this is easily the best one I’ve ever used. , and the best looking! What stands out immediately is how smooth and irritation-free the shave is. On setting 1, I can shave every single day with zero irritation—no redness, no razor burn, nothing. It’s consistent and comfortable in a way that’s honestly hard to find. What’s even better is how adjustable it is. If I skip a day or two, I just bump it up a notch, and it handles the extra growth effortlessly without sacrificing comfort. That flexibility makes it feel like multiple razors in one. The open comb design deserves a lot of credit here too. It’s efficient without being harsh, and it clears longer stubble far better than most closed comb razors I’ve used. It just feels more capable, especially on those days when growth is heavier. Another huge plus is the weight. This razor has a solid, substantial feel in the hand, and that actually improves the shave. You don’t need to apply pressure at all—the razor does the work for you. That alone reduces irritation and makes the whole experience more controlled and relaxed. Build quality is excellent as well. Everything feels tight, precise, and well-made. The adjustment mechanism is smooth and easy to dial in, and once you find your preferred settings, it becomes second nature. Overall, this razor hits that rare balance of efficiency and comfort. It’s forgiving enough for daily use at lower settings, but powerful enough to handle heavier growth when needed. If you’re looking for a razor that can adapt to your routine while delivering consistently smooth, irritation-free results, the Parker Variant Open Comb is tough to beat.

The best DE razor so far.
I have tried 6 different double edged (DE) closed comb razors from well known highly rated manufacturers and all have given me a decent shave. Having said that, this adjustable open comb Parker is better by quite a margin. The adjustments go from 1 to 5 with 1 being very safe and non-aggressive. I suppose you could cut yourself with it set at 1 but you would have to be trying to or doing something stupid. Set at 5 however it is very aggressive. I tried 5 and ended up with a couple of small nicks and that was being careful. I use 3 1/2 most of the time. The only negative comment you'll hear from me about this razor is that the indicating dot is the same color as the handle which means I can't see it when I have my glasses off while shaving. C'mon man, put a white dot on the dark handle or a black dot on the metal handle. There is something about the open comb that just allows a closer shave than a closed comb and it requires less pressure when shaving as well. I mean, don't press too hard. Light pressure will get the job done and with that there is less irritation to my skin. It also leaves some shave cream behind after each pass so your next pass is better lubricated than with a closed comb razor and your face doesn't become dry as quickly when shaving. You don't have to re-lather as often. Another thing I have found is that with this razor I can get up to five decent shaves with one blade while with all the other razors I have tried I was only getting three decent shaves per blade. Perhaps this is due to using less pressure while shaving. The weight and handle length don't really concern me one way or the other, you get used to a razor after a half dozen shaves or so. Finally there is the "feel" of this razor when shaving. This razor gives more tactile feedback than any razor I have used before. You can really feel when you're holding it at just the correct angle and when you're just off a little bit, much more so than my previous razors. For the money I don't think you can find a better DE safety razor. My previous razors were not inexpensive and touted by many as being top notch precision razors but this Parker Variant Adjustable is way ahead of them in terms of a close, efficient shave. I am glad I tried some other name brands before this one because otherwise I wouldn't have anything to compare it too. If you are now using or have used a DE razor switching to this will be a step up for you. I have no affiliation with this company and purchased a Parker Variant Open Comb Adjustable with my own money from Amazon after reading reviews about it on several websites. My opinions are my own, feel free to agree or disagree. I don't care if you purchase one or not, either way has no effect on me or my life. November 2024

As mild or aggressive as you need (not durable enough)
I started out with a Leponix kit from Amazon as my first safety razor, and I enjoyed it for about a year. But once I got pulled into the safety razor world, curiosity pushed me to try something new and hopefully better. After plenty of research (YouTube reviews and Badger & Blade forums), I decided an adjustable razor would be ideal since it offers multiple razors in one without being too expensive. That led me to the Parker Variant Open Comb. Right away, I noticed it’s much heavier than the Leponix, which felt great in hand. On setting 5, it was about as aggressive as the Leponix, meaning I had unknowingly started my safety shaving journey with one of the most aggressive razors out there. When I dialed it down to setting 2, though, the experience completely changed: I got the smoothest shave I’d ever had, with zero irritation, even on three days of growth. That first shave sealed it, I instantly fell in love with the razor. Update: Unfortunately, after just two years, one of the head teeth broke. I had understood these razors were supposed to be built to last, so two years feels disappointingly short. I reached out to Super Safety Razors on Facebook. At first they apologized and seemed eager to help, asking for details about my purchase. But after some back and forth about the Amazon store, order number, and my country of residence, they ultimately declined to replace it. In the meantime, I picked up a Mühle Neo. With a 10% discount plus $5 in balance, I paid only $21.10, which is impressively cheap considering it included free shipping to Colombia. The razor already feels more premium and looks far better, a definite upgrade in both quality and aesthetics. On top of that, it delivers a mild yet efficient shave, very much comparable to setting 1 on the Parker.

Fantastic razor
Great razor with the right amount of adjustability. I shave my head in the shower, so being able to adjust easily based on WTG, ATG, etc is critical. Open comb can be scary to use on your head, but the adjustability makes the fear go away quickly. Going across the grain on 3.5 mows down 2-3 days of growth without hesitation, and going against the grain on 2-2.5 is nice and mild, yet affective. In my experience, this razor likes sharper blades, but that can be extremely variable based on the user. As long as you are used to not applying any pressure, the heft of the razor is great and does all the work. I also appreciate the long handle for shaving the back of my head. The build quality is excellent and it feels like a razor that should last a lifetime as long as it is well treated. The knurling on the handle is the right amount of aggressive, even when covered in soap. The channels behind the comb are very deep, so I can shave an entire pass on my head without even thinking about needing to rinse This is probably my 8 or 9th razor (second adjustable), but has quickly gained a spot in my top 2. Definitely worth a try

My favorite razor for two or three day beard growth
Open combs may not be the best choice for everyone. But for me this is the best razor I've ever used. I tend to shave every 2 or 3 days, rather than daily. For single day growth, a closed comb can work just fine. But with 2 or 3 days growth, the open comb lets the hairs slide into the blade edge much more easily. Blade adjustment works well and allows a significant range of choices. Loading requires attention as you need to ensure the top cap is fit correctly.

The Best 2-3 Day Growth Safety Razor Ever!
The most comfortable, repeatable, and adaptable 3 piece adjustable OPEN comb safety razor I have ever used. Crafted with high quality material and a good heavy handle gives a premium feel. I have been a Merkur Futur user for 10+ years and the one complaint I’ve had would be the tendency for Hair to clog at the bottom of the safety bar. As a frequent sufferer of ingrown hair with semi-dry sensitive skin I go 2-3 days between shaves and this clogging of my wiry thick growth in the blade exacerbated the problem. With the Parker open comb design, thick stubble is smoothly combed and presented to the blade in a manner that prevents the blade from tugging at the skin causing friction and in grown hairs. At first cut with the razor I could instantly feel the release of my hair in a smooth gliding sensation rather then the traditional peeling feeling I associate with shaving. Currently I am testing Viking Blades for medium to corse hair with the Parker handle and the shave is forgiving yet close and uniform. I have some Gillette Nacent, Bic Chromium, and Feather hi-stainless blades to also give a shot. If you’re looking for a razor for 2-3 day type shaves look no further than this Parker Razor.

Excellent
If I had known a razor handle could make this much difference I would have bought this years ago. Had not used a double edge safety razor since day 1 when as a youngster. Yea olde, Gillette Trac ii was just out and started with that one. Moved up to an Atra later and used it till a package of blades was almost impossible to find a was $15! I bought Parker first that was about the same price point, a little cheaper 7 years ago. It was not adjustable but was supposed to be a good beginner's razor. I hated it. I have pretty sensitive skin, and it kept the nick sticks busy. Tried multiple different blades but still not happy. Bought a Merkur adjustable after a year of the Parker and thought, it was great but still even down on 1 it required a nick stick every week or two. Reviewed videos on how to shave with them and again a regime of different blades. Have been using a Feather for a couple years as it seemed to be the least amount of nicks. When I got this Parker I was ecstatic. I was like, 'how can one Parker be so terrible and one so good?' I have had it a while now and almost never, even on day one, use the nick stick. My skin feels great too. I have started using up the cheaper blades I have too. I still only every other days as it just makes my face too raw to shave daily. But that and starting to use jojoba oil prior to shaving has made a big difference. (Started the jojoba oil with the last razor and it really helped.)

Good quality, feels great
I was using a butterfly razor that wasn't giving me a great shave. This one however feels a lot better and is now my go to razor.

Elegant Looking!
Parker Variant Open Comb Adjustable Safety Razor Cons . Unlike other quality razors which have their name engraved on their razors, this product lacks the Parker name or logo, raising concerns about its authenticity. . By enhancing the visibility of the adjustment dial, it would become much easier to use. If the numbers are made black to contrast with the graphite, it would be a simple yet effective way to improve its visibility, and the dot used to align the numbers is barely visible. Pros . You don't need multiple passes to get a close shave. It is effective and delivers a phenomenal shave in just one pass. . The razor has a nice weight and feels great and comfortable in hand. . The range of mild to aggressiveness is highly appreciated. Although there are minor cons, I absolutely love this razor and believe it deserves a 5-star rating. If you're searching for a great present for a wet shaver, I believe this razor could be an excellent option. It provides a high-quality shaving experience and is a solid adjustable safety razor that won't break the bank.

Super!
Davvero ottimo! Giusto peso, ottime finiture, pratico e versatile.

Good quality
Not a bad product. It’s well-made. It is a little bit harsh but I guess that’s the design of the blade. Will definitely purchase again. This is a quality product.
