Audubon, American Made!
I received this feeder today, no assembly required. It is hanging from a limb on one of our larger crepe myrtle trees. I have a lot of Mourning Doves during the summer, and I wanted a feeder where they wouldn't have to harass each other so much to compete for food. I run safflower to discourage squirrels and other feeder tyrants. This feeder will do well. It is very well built, the wood is high quality, and the platform that holds the food is also quite sturdy. In addition to hanging from trees, it has metal "feet" that would allow it to simply perch no pun intended) on the ground, and of course, it can be pole mounted. Since there is no assembly, there is no disassembly, so cleaning will be a breeze. And we all clean our feeders regularly so our birds don't get sick!If there is any negative, I do not have a rain guard big enough to cover the size of this feeder. However, that's not enough to take off a star, and that is the trade-off where you have a feeder that will accommodate more bird traffic. It will not last forever; no feeder does, but I can tell it will outlast cheaper feeders that one might find at a big blue retail store. I like it, and most importantly, I know the Mourning Doves will like having a safe place to feed under the shade of my tree. Highly recommended.

Was not put together!
My package looked as though it had been returned already and then just put in another box. It was not put together undeneath, not even a screw whole for the metal piece underneath was just hanging down. When I hung it, it hung crooked. I would not purchase again.

goodish hanging feeder, sides pointlessly high
Platform feeders are awesome and this one hangs (in my case from a cable between trees and below a couple of baffles to stop squirrels) so that's good. There are metal legs held folded up only by the friction of screws. The legs and screws can be discarded, unless you want to put it on the ground and feed birds to the neighborhood cats :-)But why is this thing so deep (4 cm/1.5 in)? As I sit in my living room looking out the feeder is twenty feet out and 1 foot higher than eye-level, and all I can see of the goldfinches is their heads. Of course I look out nowand I see two titmice and a chickadee hammering open safflower seeds while standing up on the frame (sides). Quite cute, quite visible, quite satisfying.if you are putting it on a pole, build your own -- it's easy and cheap and you won't have a privacy wall surrounding the seed :-)if you are feeding birds on the ground (also called feeding rats & cats (see above)) why do you need a feeder?if you want it hanging, this is reasonable. A home-made feeder is fun and easy to design and make, but if you're a spaz like me you'll never get it to balance and hang straight.BTW, in my experience, seed simply does not blow off bird feeders, so the high side structure has no up-side.

Easy to hang, easy to use
I would actually give this a 10 rating but the scale stopped at 5. I also bought a hook to hang it in my tree and this makes it easily moveable for cleaning. Cleaning is easy as all you do is take it off the hook and dump the seed hulls in the trash. The House Finches are in numbers never seen before. My mother's is occupied by Blue Jays and Dark-eyed Juncos. We also gave my sister-in-law one and she also loves it. I cannot wait to see what birds we will get this spring. I put black oiled sunflower seeds and peanuts in their shell in mine. Good value for the price

Nice feeder. Check the feet before use to make sure they are secure.
We are using the feeders as a ground feeders. I purchased 2 of these and noticed one of them had a loose foot on the bottom. We set both up in our back yard and after a week, the loose foot came off. My husband will have to drill another hole in the side of the feeder to reattach the foot. He said the hole that the foot was screwed into was stripped. Otherwise, we are pleased with them. They hold a good amount of seed for all the birds that come to eat every day.
