I find the 60X to be amost useless, but the 30X magnifier is plenty powerful enough for the task. So I'm basically satisfied with its performance; I don't observe any distortion. I find the LED lights to be essential: The loupe must be held so close to the item being examined that an alternative light source would be difficult to properly position. But the built in LEDs provide plenty of illumination. Not sure how long the batteries will last. The unit appears to be of quality construction. And the optics are well protected by the cover when not in use.
