**Q: is this Left looking from top or from bottom?**
A: That is the top where it fits into machine then pad goes on underside of black spinning part.

**Q: How do I tell the left or right? If i'm behind the Spinwave it is the left side that is broken.**
A: I would assume so but you can call the company and they can help you if all else fails.

Thanks to the other reviewer who clarified that left and right disks are identical, and the tip on using the old screw with the replacement disk. Sure enough, the screw that came with the disk didn't fit, but the original worked like a charm. Saved me $100 not having to buy a new machine. I looked at the disks sold on the Bissell site and these are identical.
