Up until recently I didn't even know that these existed, I had seen the expensive specialist chasing machines, but not something that could be fitted to a regular angle grinder, these don't seem to be stocked by many places. Really impressed with this, the unit seems sturdy enough for my (enthusiast rather than trade) needs, with an all metal construction. After having used angle grinders to make chases in block work in the past I'm well aware of how much dust this can throw up. I'm living in a house that I'm renovating so trying to minimise dust and mess is a priority. Using this connected to a shopvac and there is very little/no visible dust when making chases (obv still wear the appropriate PPE). The depth stop allows you to use as a plunge cutter. I imagine that the straight edge on the unit would also be really useful for running against a guide rather than just 'free handing' if you needed a clean straight edge cut, say for paving slabs/thick tiles. I'm using with a 115mm Makita angle grinder, which works fine it just will not give you the depth of cut that a 125mm grinder will. I'll give 5 stars as it does exactly what I wanted. Before I ordered it seemed a lot to spend, but now I've used, although pricey, it's worth the cost to me.

Does what it is suppose to do very well (remove dust)bonus you can set depth to 15mm it repeats depth only thing you have to watch out for is diameter of cutting disc decreasing.

Thoroughly recommend purchasing. I expected some dust to escape, but there was none. Wished I had bought one earlier. A bit fiddly working out how it goes together as instructions aren't great, but once over that hurdle, it was well worth the effort. It is well made and fits the 18V DGA463Z perfectly. A tad pricey when you consider a bare tool unit is circa £100, however it not only saves your lungs but a major clean up following use. Buy it!!

Very good does the job well.

Started replacing brickwork mortar and to date completed about 40 - 45 mtr. sq. and purchased this for my Makita grinder - although it is for the 125mm it fits the Makita 115mm grinder attachment as well. Good to use and handle can be fitted above or below to allow you to get to within 1 brick of floor or soffit. Fitted to my shop vac and cyclone by hose and very little dust generated - only made dust running in to existing chase or at end of wall when blade cuts in to free air. Made my own attachment to set grinder / shroud for plunge cutting vertical joints between bricks as well so as not to damage adjacent courses.

J'ai acheté ce cache pour équiper une meuleuse 840 w makita (attention de bien choisir le modèle de carter correspondant à la meuleuse que vous possédez pour le montage, n'hésitez pas à vous rendre sur le site de makita pour vérifier quel référence de carter est adaptée à votre référence de meuleuse sinon vous ne pourrez pas le faire tenir). Si le carter correspond, l'assemblage se fait via les ergots qui servent pour je capo de protection, très simple, il suffit ensuite de serrer avec la clé incluse. Ce carter de protection est idéal pour réaliser des rainures dans un mur tout en évitant d'inonder votre intermédiaire poussières (surtout si votre mur est en brique platrière comme moi) cela m'a permis d'installer des arrivées d'eau dans une douche ou des arrivées d'électricité pour des prises électriques). Le carter peut être employé le long d'un tasseau en bois ou un rail ce qui permet de réaliser des coupes bien droites, et ça devient un grand avantages lors de la coupe de carreaux, car il remplace aisément un coupe carreaux électrique (Et kit à faire des coupes rectilignes, je vous conseille l'achat d'un bon disque pour la coupe de carrelage...vous obtiendrez un résultat superbe, sans éclats sur le bord, sa change tout ;) L'autre avantage se se capot est que son embout d'aspiration vous permettra de l'utiliser avec des aspirateurs de chantier d'autres fabricants. Pour ma part, je l'ai testé et approuv6ave. Un festool ctl 26 ac ainsi qu'un bosch universalvac 15, les embouts coopèrent très bien ensemble (contraitement à une marque bleue pro qui vous impose ses embouts spécifiques, attention..) Pour conclure, si vous voulez réaliser des saignées et découper des carreaux sans poussière et avec un minimum de précision, c'est un achat que je vous recommande vivement. Bon bricolage ^^

Wauw, ik verschiet ervan dat er zo weinig stof is bij gebruik van deze kap. Goed product wat we van Makita gewoon zijn.

Wat een heerlijk, briljant apparaat. Gebruikt om meerdere sleuven in de muur te frezen. Goede bouwstofzuiger erop (in mijn geval een Bosch Professional) en je hebt nagenoeg geen last van stof meer! Wat een uitkomst! Investering meer dan waard.

Looks very good but regretfully does not fit Metabo WEV angle grinder.

There are two almost-identical versions of this guard. This one fits the Makita grinders that have three notches on the mounting collar, including the Makita XAG20Z 18V LXT cordless grinder. The other variant (Makita 196846-1) is for grinders with a single notch on the collar. The guard is very nice. Solidly built and entirely metal.
