Sharp and lots of choices for slices
I had the original Oxo mandolin. When this new one came out, I decided to retire my old mandolin and by this one. I'm really glad I did. I have more options for slice sizes. It's very sharp and easy to keep clean. I use a glove instead of the gripper but the gripper does work really well. I love that it's easy to clean and stores easily. Also unlike the original officer, the blades are contained within the mandolin so the only blade you switch out is for wavy slices. It's so fast and so convenient. I use it all the time. One thing you should know is it is made of metal, so it should be rinsed off as soon as you're done using it especially if you're cutting tomatoes. Also because it's made of metal it is heavier than the original model, but I like that it has a good weight to it. The kickstand is really sturdy and holds the mandolin at a nice angle. All in all it was worth the money to me to upgrade

Excellent slicer.
Works great, easy to clean, intuitive to use. I recommend also buying a cheap cut-proof glove to use while you slice for safety. I found this way better to use than the classic beringer slicer or a handheld v-slicer

Sturdy product
Sturdy product. Hard to use for root vegetables and blade does not secure for storage, otherwise I would have given 5 stars

Excellent design. Safe. No fuss, no muss.
I don't want a huge food processor - I had one and gave it to one of our kids - too complicated to store it, clean it, and just not worth it. This mandolin is perfect for me. Originally, I was just looking for something safe and fast to shred cabbage - without shredding my fingers or throwing away a lot of cabbage. I got this OXO (all stainless version) and absolutely love it. (1) the blade fully recesses for safe storage; (2) the stand folds flat underneath and snaps over the veggie holder so everything is in one flat safe piece for storage; (3) so easy to clean - quick rinse in hot water; and (4) somewhat infinite slice thickness possibilities. The first time I used it, I read the instructions twice and was concerned it might just be one more "thing" that's more trouble than it's worth. Not so! I suggest you read the part about the blade and safety, and then just go for it. I use it for everything for my slaw now, not just the cabbage - the celery and onion too - done in a breeze and no waste. Find myself using it for other things now - carrots, cukes, peppers, etc etc etc. Anything that needs slicing or dicing. It's worth it. Tip: do absolutely get a protective mesh glove and use it every time. Which is good advice for anytime you use a blade or a knife if you are not a pro (I just can't get the knack of folding my fingers back out of the way of a blade).

Heavy Duty Landfill Donation
As many times as Ive tried to use this - IT JUST DOES NOT CUT. It mangles soft veggies. It won’t cut through hard ones. And it becomes very unsafe when you get to the last bits as they get stuck between the knife and the machine. Not easy to find a suitable container to place underneath to catch the cut produce. The spring action on the holder does not stay in place. It’s almost too strong. Can’t tell you how many times I nearly sliced my fingers though trying to either use it or remove the stuck, partially cut vegetables. Yep, it is a sturdy stainless steel product, but does not work as intended. Waste of $100 that I thought was an investment. No way to sharpen the blade effectively either. I’ve had several oxo products that worked as intended, and were usually better than other similar products, but this one is just awful.

The best.
I have owned three or four mandoline in my adult life, and they each were terrible. They weren't sturdy, some of them had their plastic bodies chip and break. None of them could cut very well, and the blades would be pushed down by any amount of pressure causing slices to be irregular and much larger than anticipated. One mandoline I owned was so dangerous and cheap, the only thing it managed to cut was my thumb. This mandoline doesn't budge. Each cut is consistent and accurate. The blade is sharp and removable- so it can be sharpened or replaced, increasing its safety. A sharper blade needs less pressure, and is therefore less likely to cause you to slip and cut your hand. It's extremely easy to clean, too. Unlike some models which do not have a safe to remove blade, you can remove the blade and then wash it separate from the rest of the body- very safe and convenient. I wish I had just started with this one. I spent more on the three or four other mandoline combined than I did this one. Sometimes, more is really less.

Cuts beautifully and safely

Disappointing
It wasn’t very sharp. It was difficult to slice tomatoes and bell peppers, it did slice cucumbers, though. It was surprisingly dull making me wonder if it was a used product.

Avoid
I used it once and dumped it.. Oxo is usually a reputable brand but this machine is a rip off. Blades are dull barely cuts! The cabbage gets stuck on the blade tomato mush and uneven thick slice. AVOID!!!!!
