Stores Easley, safely protectes your fingers.
I had one like this for 20 plus years. The hand protector was the only thing that broke. I tried another new style. It cut me just getting it out to use. This one is safe to handle and very easy to use. Quickly changes from one cutting level to another. I'm very happy to have another just like the one I had for all of those years. Good job Swissmar for a timeless classic. Good value for the money and easy to clean.

Rather expensive,but worth it's prize
It's my third Bonner slicer,I've tried the others, and noting was as good and easy to use.I bought my first one in Germany in eighties and after many years of use I needed the new one,now don't remember what was wrong, probably the plastic broke.I didn't know I can get it in U.S. ,so I tried what was available at stores and nothing could match. Then I found my second one in some Home Expo, many years ago,it still works, but some plastic broke,so It stand a little unstable,it has stained plates,so I decided it's time for the new one.Its not cheap, but worth the money ,simple, easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store, with really sharp blades, but safe to use.

UPDATE Getting the hang of it
Original review: It took me a while to get my own technique down with this. I recommend watching some of the more detailed videos available to help you get the hang of it. That said, it worked great the other night with zuccini but kohlrabi and raw beets seemed to be just too hard (could have been my technique.) I couldn't figure out how to do smaller vegetables like carrots or radishes but a video showed that you can stick several of them on the gripper. Use it often so you get a lot of practice! Update: After slicing off a piece of my thumb trying to remove the "last piece" of something from the blade... My bad. That said, I am loving this thing. I am not good at getting uniform onion slices and this works perfectly. Slicing a couple of red onions into uniform, super-thin rings for pickling is easy. It took me a while to figure out how to "chop" an onion but that also works well for me. Again, practice makes perfect and the more you use it the better you get at it and the quicker you get at inserting and changing blades. And again, keep your fingers away from the pointy bits!

The old one worked for 40 years and needed a replacement
My 40-year old V slicer finally gave out and this one will replace it.

fantastic
definitely a sharp blade worthy of your respect. It slices and dices large piles of veges without taking or space or costs of an electric food processor. Despite being cautious every time, I feel safe with the large hand guard and good design. Easy to spray wash (never used soap). I cook very large batches of soup and other vegetables every once in a while and won't go back to knife for this work.

V-Slicer Plus Mandoline quality that lasts!
I purchased one of these slicer/dicers from the CNE 38 years ago. Iโm still using it today , although the blades are rather dull after that many years. I use it pretty much on a daily basis. Easy cleanup, a simple rinse is all it needs. I was thrilled to find this on Amazon and it is actually made by the same company as my old one!

Great mandoline!!!
I bought my first Swissmar Borner over 30 years ago and it still works but is getting dull as you can imagine. I use it several times a week. Since it was dulling I have bought another brand which was more expensive and much more complicated to use and ultimately dull and annoying so it will go to a charity for someone stronger to deal with it. So I was really happy to find that my old faithful Borner was still in business and ordered one of them to replace my old one. It's a simple and compact design with a great storage system all in one and does enough variety of shapes and sizes for all my needs. Easy to clean and goes right back into its storage rack to dry.
