Q: Do these earplugs attach to a plastic string so I can keep them around my neck until I need them?

Yes, there is a string. It is not plastic though.

Q: How do know what size you need?

I believe standard fit will work for most people as the design of the ear plugs is tapered to go from smaller to ordinary size ears. If you know that you have wider ear canals (problems with fit in standard in-ear headphones / ear pods where they loosen easily and fall out) then certainly purchase the large size.

Q: How is the treble with these?

These work amazing - they reduce background noise and focus noise to make music more crisp to the ears. They don't "change" the bass, treble or high end; they reduce volume and background noise to enhance the listening experience. I was recommended these by a musician / vocalist that uses them while performing.

Q: Which carrying case do these ear plugs come with? The hard plastic case or the soft squeezable case?

Mine came with the soft case. I carry ear protection with me at all times for whenever the music or sound level gets uncomfortable. I also have a pair with the hard case. I like the soft case better because the hard one tends to open accidentally in my purse, leaving me fishing for my Etymotics.
