UPDATE: I'M CHANGING THE REVIEW FROM 1 TO 4. One of the rare moments where my initial disappointment led to a highly negative review but after using it (perforce!) for a few months, I feel differently. Don't get me wrong! The loud irritating "Bluetooth Mode", "Disconnected" announcements are still as irritating. The random disconnections don't seem random any more - Basically if you leave the bar connected for a long time without playing anything, and then afterwards you start playing something, it plays the music for some time, but then gets disconnected! Also, I've since discovered that the speakers in the bar ARE stereo (not mono as I'd thought) and play stereo audio well. Battery life is pretty good at around 4-5 hours I guess (I've never timed it!). The product is decently usable, Overall, not the best audio product I've owned (that too from Boat) but decent enough not to character assassinate! OLD REVIEW ========== I genuinely cannot believe this product made it past Boat’s own internal quality checks. The Boat Avante Bar 490 is, without exaggeration, one of the most irritating and poorly designed audio devices I’ve ever used. First, the startup and shutdown experience is laughably bad. The thing screams “Bluetooth Mode” at full blast like it's trying to alert the entire neighborhood. No exaggeration, it’s jarring, obnoxious, and completely unnecessary. And before anyone asks, no, you cannot turn this dreadful voice off. Not through the device, not through the app, nowhere. It’s baked into the misery. Then there's the volume control, or rather the illusion of it. Press the volume buttons and you’re rewarded with a piercing beep that is somehow even louder than the startup voice. Does the volume actually change? Sometimes. Sometimes not. In my case, the volume didn’t decrease at all, but the beep made sure everyone in my house knew I tried. If you plan to adjust volume at night, don’t bother. You’ll end up waking everyone. Sound quality? Another disappointment. Most of the audio seems to come from the right side of this unusually long soundbar. If this is actually a single-speaker unit masquerading as a stereo soundbar, then the design borders on misleading. Why build something this wide if it’s going to output sound like a lopsided toy speaker? And of course, the Bluetooth connection. It randomly disconnects. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes whenever it feels like ruining your moment. And the disconnection announcement? Yet another ear-splitting shout. At this point, it’s almost comedic how consistently annoying this device is. Overall, this is a shockingly low-quality product from a brand I previously trusted. I’ve owned Boat Airdopes and the Stone 200 and have been quite happy with both. This, however, is a complete letdown. Easily the worst Boat product I’ve ever used. But the real punch in the gut is Amazon’s return policy. Unlike my other purchases, this piece of junk cannot be returned. Only replaced. Meaning I can exchange it for... another copy of the same loud, defective, headache-inducing soundbar. Amazing. Slow claps all around. If you value your ears, your peace, and your sanity, avoid the Boat Avante Bar 490. It’s a masterclass in bad design, bad execution, and bad user experience.

Boat speakers are definitely a solid pick. They arrived right on schedule and the quality is pretty impressive. The sound quality is decent and meets my expectations. I've been using it for a month now and it's performing really well.

BoAt Aavante Bar is proving to be really good at just the price of ₹999. I recently bought 2 other speakers at the same price but they were a waste, but this one is already more than enough to turn my home into a theatre. Like really, all ot lacks is Dolby Atmos, but at this price stereo is also perfect. It is also portable and can easily be carried to any corner of the house. Connectivity is also amazing, it says 10m of range but it can last longer than that. The packaging and the looks are gorgeous, on the front the logo shines, the built quality is amazing. Front has some metallic net like covering and the rest is also made of hardened plastic, giving it a premium look. The sound can easily cover my whole house just at 50-60 volume. The box also looks premium and eye catching. THINGS THAT CAN BE IMPROVED: Bass, Visible lights (not like RGB but like on and off lights, which just show up on a small dot, not problematic but would be better if more visible.), A strap for better holding and carrying.
