Reading online that a faulty power supply could cause this, I picked up this replacement power supply for a great price. When I plugged my drive into the wall with this, I was pleased to see that the drive worked just as it had before it started giving me trouble. I've only had this power supply for a few weeks, so I really can't speak for its longevity. At this point, however, the adapter is working as intended and confirmed that the drive was still functional. For the few dollars this costs, I'd say it's a worthy investment if your external hard drive is acting up. The problem may be that the factory power supply has died and just needs replacing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well *by M***N on July 1, 2020* Lost my power adapter for my WD Mirror Edition external hard drive , which is a Raid 1 configured dual 500 GB .The listed required power needed is 12v 36 watt. The power supply I received was 12v 70 watt and I was concerned,But after contacting product support and doing some additional checking I found that the higher amp rating was ok because the hard drive will only draw the amperage it needs from the power supply, as long as the 12v rating is correct. It is ok for the adapter amp rating to be higher but not lower than what is needed. The 1 star reduction is due to my concern of the product received specs being different than what was purchased and the delay in determining it was ok to use. The adapter seems well made and works well and doesn't even get warm when using. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Does not fit 100MB rugged *by G***M on April 17, 2013* I have a Lacie 100MB rugged designed by neil poulton, 4-5 years old. This power supply does not fit that drive. If someone knows what *would* fit I'd be grateful.UPDATE: the vendor approved a return. They were very nice about it (eating the cost of the return postage).
