Really good for before you go to hospital.
Clear and non-frightening explanations of what happens at the doctor's. Included names for medical instruments, which my then 3 year old used at an appointment, and impressed the paediatrician no end! Reading this to my daughter prepared her well for what to expect and allowed her to be more confident and better informed about her medical appointment.

very well written.
I have bought this for my youngest granddaughter, it is one of many books I buy from Amazon. I am sure she will love it. It explains a lot of simple medical things in a way I would find hard to explain. Very well thought out and an excellent book for a little one.

Great book
This is only a small book but it’s great for keeping in your bag or pushchair! It’s really good for younger children to understand with great pictures for them to look at. I really recommend this book for helping with children who may be nervous about seeing a doctor

My kids just loved it!!!
I have two twins who are 24 months old. Both this book and the 'first experiences going on a plane' of Anna Civardi have become their favourite ones. It is a very entertaining way to get accustomed with experiences such as going to the doctor, getting into the plane etc.I plan to buy more books of this series (going to school, to the dentist etc.) shortly.

Helpful for little ones
This is a quite simple book with 2 different sentences on each page .....a read it yourself simple sentence and a more detailed sentence. I found this book useful as on one page it refers to vaccinations (pre-school) it says that it did hurt but not for long, this book really helped my little girl before her vaccination appointment.

More like a pamphlet than a book
Nicely written but it's more like a pamphlet than a book! It's over priced for what you get and the children will probably destroy it very quickly. A shame because other than that it's a nice book. A board book would have been better, especially for the price.

Wonderfully reassuring
Bought this for my three year old and although it's only just arrived, it's been read many times. She loves trying to say the difficult words like "stethoscope", "otoscope", "thermometer" and "immunisation". Used in conjunction with a toy doctor set, the book is educational and reassuring to little people.

... and explains going to the Doctor very simply and easily for a toddler to understand
Grand-daughter bit young for the book at the moment which was purchased to go with the Medical Case but I thought it was extremely well written and explains going to the Doctor very simply and easily for a toddler to understand.

Comprehensive and mostly true-to-life
I have been looking for books about doctors/hospitals because my 2yr old wants to know what her Daddy does at work. So I was NOT looking for books that are about or even mention being scared of going to the doctor-- she is not scared of doctors whatsoever and I did not even want that possibility to arise in her imagination. This is a great book in that respect-- it is not about how doctors are not scary, etc... it's just about what happens when you go there! I've found that telling my kids not to be scared of something simply makes them think that there is something to possibly be scared of. So we don't use that language when it comes to doctors, dentists, etc. Most of the scenarios are very true-to-life, which was also important for my needs. The main things that are different from (most) real doctor's offices is that this book does not show any nurses and the exams take place in the doc's office as opposed to an exam room! So, those elements were a tiny bit disappointing, but other than that, it's pretty realistic and uses the real terms like otoscope and immunizations. These are words that our kids know, so that is really nice reinforcement. My daughter's favorite part is the chest/throat exam. My favorite part is the beleaguered mom with the screaming infant in the waiting room.Definitely a great book if you want a friendly, simple story about what goes on at the pediatrician's office.

Good book
Great book for getting your preschooler ready for the doctor visit. I wish it came as a board book, though. My daughter has had us read it to her many times and she also likes finding the little duck hidden in the pages.

Very disappointed.
I bought this book for my 4 year old who is in and out of doctors appointments for a medical condition. This book, like others said, is more like a pamphlet than a book. Very small and not as big as I'd expect it to be. It's very basic and I felt like I could tell him everything this book tells him in 2 minutes myself and be fine. Overpriced as the book says $1.99 on the back and I paid way more for it used. It was so basic and simple (not well written to us) that I felt it was more for my 2 year old (who probably wouldn't understand it anyways). NOT worth buying. VERY disappointed in this Usborne book. Wish I could send it back but don't want to pay more $.
