Not about Wookies but still great
I did ding it one star for the misleading title, but it's still another great book in the series. The description of the book tells you it's about lots of characters in the Star Wars universe and that's just what it is, Wookies aren't in it anymore than any of the others. I was a little disappointed, but I was kind of wondering how they were going to make a whole picture book on Wookies anyway, when the pictures are from movies and there is very little material other than a bunch of Chewbacca shots to pick from. Anyway...We got a bunch of these books to read to our 4 year-old and he LOVES them! A bonus for us is that they're also fun and interesting to read. The series-1 books are the best for us, it takes maybe 3-5 minutes to read (depending on how long he wants to look and talk about the pictures) and we'll usually do this and another book each night. All the books are very good but when you get into the series-3 & 4's they get to be quite a bit longer to read.

Great for Young Readers
My 6-year-old son is a HUGE fan of Star Wars. We don't let him watch the cartoon and he has only seen the movies once, but he seems to know everything about this fictitious world! So, when I noticed him bringing home the DK readers from the school library (all the little boys race to get them at school every week and he can't always get there first!), I knew just what kind of books to buy so he always has some at home to read. It is very important to have books available on topics kids love so they will love reading! Good job DK. We are amassing quite a library and he is so proud that he can read them himself!

Who are the different Star Wars characters?
What is a Wookie is actually a description of various Star Wars characters and not a book about Wookies. It's great because it has short "bios" on characters like Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Han Solo, etc. and explains who each of them are with great pictures. My son is 2 years old and the characters really begin to take life when it's not just their names and pictures, but also a very short understandable biography. I read this book to him about every other day and he loves it. Great price and more durable than you would think. We have probably read this one 25 times and it's still in great shape.

Educational for aunties, too :o)
I read this series of books to my 3 year old nephew. I love them because I am not a Star Wars person but hated not knowing the answers to his questions about it. These books seem to cover everything. Be warned, bedtime readers - these little books are deceptively long!

Ok, but the title is deceving
My son was very upset that this book is not really all about Wookies. He said there was only 1 page that told about Wookies and the rest was general info about Star Wars. The same information he has read in other books. He was really looking for an in-dept book about Wookies :)

It’s a Trap! (It’s not about Wookies)
This book has one page about Chewbacca, it is not at all about Wookies.Nothing about Life day or anything :(My daughter enjoys the Star Wars readers but we didn’t care for thisAlso, as a mom I’m trying to keep Jar Jar Binks out of my kids Star Wars education, he gets two pages, and quite a lot of the other prequels creatures get sections as well :/Least favorite of the Star Wars readers so far (I like the “world of reading” ones that actually tell little parts of stories from the films)

Great for toddlers and preschoolers!
Bought this for my then-2 year old. He was just beginning to know about Star Wars. After reading this book, there was no going back! LOL My son was hooked. Each page describes a certain Star Wars character. Big pictures and words. After a couple readings, my son knew each character by name! Adorable.

It just what i wanted!
I bought this book for my 4 year old who has a MAJOR obsession with Star Wars. This is a great book. It has wonderful pictures that i just know my son is going to love. And, when he gets into reading, this beginning reader will be a great addition to the bookshelf.

Not just about Wookies! A Star Wars primer.
This book is written as a who's who guide to aliens and droids in the Star Wars films; from 'Jar Jar Binks' to 'Ewoks'. I learned alot about the lizard keepers of Geonosis - thanx! The book is narrated by C3PO, and has about 3 short sentences about each character or creature in easy to access language. It is illustrated on every page by stills from the films. There are call out boxes with key words that are repeated in a simple glossary at the back of the book (each word is next to a little picture cue). It has an information book style and is not really a story. The glossary is great in the back of this one, as most of the words are simple common words that you might use in other stories - space, tail, wing, tool, hood, forest, spaceship and podracer. I think these are great books to develop vocabulary for science fiction writing for older kids in the juniors (sci-fi text for kids is a bit hit and miss). On the back page there is a space to write your childs name and a place to tick that they have read the book. Me and my 5 year old like this book, it is simple and easy for him to understand.

fantastic for a reluctant yr 1 reader
Can't recommend this series highly enough. If you've had enough of Biff & Kipper, don't hesitate for another second. Good phonics stuff. Luke Skywalker's Amazing Story is the best for introducing all the SW 'human' characters.

great book for young readers
My son love this book as part of his collection encouraging him to learn to read. He is a big star wars fan and is only 5 1/2 and already reading this to me probably form part memory but enjoying it all the same.

A good idea for young Star Wars nuts
I'm not sure these books are particularly easy to read or very exciting but the grandson loves them which is the main thing.
