fills a slot, can be fun depending on opponent
So, my main game deck is based around Necrozma, Hoopa-GX, Darkrai-EX, and Malamar/Inkay (with some energy and a truckload of trainer cards). I decided to slip this version of Darkrai into my deck, just because I found it interesting.Pros:It's a basic pokemon with decent HP.It has an ability. Its one attack not only does decent damage, but it also puts the opponent into a DEEP sleep. It's a nifty-looking card (for whatever that's worth... I like it).Cons:Its one attack takes FOUR energy cards, so time is needed to set it up.Its one ability can help speed up the setup process ONLY IF you have two energy cards in your hand already. It's a Prism Star card, so you can only have one in your deck, and once it's gone, it's gone for the game. If your opponent doesn't have many trainer cards or pokemon with abilities that can swap pokemon, this is a great card, because it's hard for them to wake back up and you can keep pounding away. If they are stocked up on such things, the picture changes. Switch, Tate & Liza, or any other pokemon-switching card will undo half of what this card does, and you're left with using 4 energies to do only 120 damage (though it can be a good way of making your opponent switch pokemon around and burn trainers). If I draw this and my Hoopa-GX on the first turn or two, I can get this Darkrai charged up pretty quick with Rogue Ring and let Abyssal Sleep buy me some more time and burn my opponent's trainer cards while I charge up my heavy hitters (if I don't just charge up Hoopa-GX and start blasting away). If I draw it late in the game and I already have a few extra dark energies in my hand, I can play it and possibly not have to worry about them being able to switch. Depending on your opponent, it can be a worthwhile and fun card, but it's certainly not a necessity.
