Great colour great performance great wearability easy to remove. .
Wanted to try a brown liquid eyeliner I typically do go for clean formulas. Iām not sure if this is very clean. I know itās for sensitive eyes, but I thought Iād just give it a try. this product is absolutely amazing. It works like a dream. I will follow up with a photo, and also will follow up how long it lasts. Iām not using it on a daily, but Iām very pleased with how easy it goes on how good it looks. The color is awesome and stays all day even through chiropractic appointments when my face is squished in that pillow, itās not a flake, not a smudge and to come off even water takes it off even though I double cleanse every night this is highly recommended in the price point is inexpensive and it came really quick as far as it being a serum for eyelash growth. I have not noticed anything yet, but will follow up if I do thatās not why I bought this, but it was a nice bonus.

Decently long-lasting & water-resistant
I absolutely LOVE the brush tip. Itās quite long and sharp, so itās really easy to work with. The formula itself is good enough, and probably the best waterproof eyeliner Iāve gotten thatās reasonably-priced. It glides on well, is quite pigmented, and works great overall. I wouldnāt say it lasts all that long, but definitely far more than any typical liquid eyeliner will (especially if you layer it); I wear a LOT of eyeliner though as a goth woman lol. Iād say it reasonably lasts 6-8 hours, sometimes an entire day; it also helps if you regularly deal with the oil that might build up on or around your eyes during the day (because oil will take it right off). However, after having used like 6-8 by now, it typically dries out after the first couple days of use, then makes a come back a few days later. I have no idea why, but just know, if it seems to dry up fast, itās probably not actually āgoneā or used up. Iām impatient though, so sometimes I will add a touch of water⦠which you probably arenāt supposed to do for a waterproof eyeliner, but oh well š¤·āāļø It completely revives it, so I donāt really care. Iād recommend layering the eyeliner 2-3 times (not much more, or else it will pill and might flake off a bit), because the formula is pretty thin. Also, I have decently sensitive skin, and this formula has caused me absolutely zero irritation or any other problems. Idk I think itās definitely worth a try at least if youāre looking for a reasonably-priced water-resistant eyeliner.

A Superior Drugstore Liner...Usually
***UPDATE: Since writing the original review I repurchased this product for the fourth time (in Ultra Black) to check again if I could make it work, since I stumbled across a couple recent reviews talking about having to shake up the pen A LOT. I am so happy to update this review to four stars. My newest one is just as deep, opaque black and smooth as I remember from my old ones. Surprisingly, I didn't have to shake more than 20 seconds initially. So I don't know for sure if the ones I bought before that were terrible were duds, or if some of the pens when new have to be shaken for quite a while to get them started. That's why I rated it four stars instead of five, since there may be quality control issues. BUT I still recommend this more than any other drugstore liquid liner. It's seriously worth giving a shot before writing it off. As for the eyelash growth claim, it is unlikely to work for that because the "active" ingredient (myristoyl pentapeptide-17) has no published, peer-reviewed studies backing it up for lash growth, although that doesn't mean it won't do something. It just means that it hasn't actually been scientifically shown to do anything yet. Some people say they have noticed a difference though so it probably can't hurt to try. But I recommend this liner because of its perfect tapered brush tip that blows any felt tip or cheap, skinny brush tip out of the water. It's also black black black and resists smudging quite well, even on my oily lids in the heat of a Texas summer. It takes a long time for the pen to dry out, too, although after a while you do sometimes have to stop during application and shake again a couple times, but I personally don't mind. It may smudge if you have seriously watery eyes and it does dry down to a slightly shiny finish, which you may dislike if you prefer completely matte black liner. In any case, I am so incredibly thrilled to be able to recommend this again and to use it again. I will repurchase forever, even with the possibility of dealing with duds. See original two-star review below. ***Original review: Writing this review breaks my heart. When this product first came out, it was definitely instantly in my top 5 list of fave makeup products ever. It was my number one fave liner ever. The brush tip is genius. So easy to use for a perfect line, thick or thin, and makes the flick of a cat eye so so easy. This product is the reason I will never be satisfied with anything but a brush tip liner for cat eyes again. I can't speak to the lash growing claim, but the brush tip, price, long wear, smudge resistance, and long period of use before dry out made this product a star. So what is the problem? Well, another of the winning features of this liner was that the shade Ultra Black was super super black, as you would expect. It pains me to say that, unfortunately, Physicians Formula at some point a couple of years ago reformulate the shade Ultra Black and now it is not as black. In fact, it's not even opaque, even after multiple passes. I was so incredibly disappointed in this that I have even purchased the product multiple times since the reformulation, hoping that it was just a fluke, but each purchase has ended in a return. No more. I am also not the only former fan to notice this change. I am looking for a replacement now. So far the new fave is Kat Von D Tatoo Liner, which is a bit pricier and harder to get. Too bad. I really can't imagine who would enjoy this product now, since it doesn't provide an opaque line. But, I can at least still say that the ease of use and brush tip are still great, hence the two stars.

New fave!
I wanted to try this because I have sensitive eyes and because it looked like it could make a š³š¦š¢šššŗ fine line. For context, Iām almost 45. Iāve used many different brands of liquid eyelinerāStila, KVD, Sephora, drugstore brands. I have been using Nyx for a long time now, but it can be a mixed bagādried out and hard to get a nice line one time and a drippy mess another time (again, talking about Nyx). So I decided to give this a shot. The Physicians Formula šš¤ššØ make an amazingly fine line! Itās very black (opaque) and is smooth and easy to use. I do a cat eye every day, and itās so much easier and faster with this! I wore it to work on a shorter day because I didnāt know how it would hold up. My days are packed with no breaks, so I didnāt want to take chances when I wouldnāt have a chance to check my face. It looked great when I glanced in the mirror as I was leaving work. Later in the evening, I was looking more closely in the mirror and I was very pleased to see that it had not cracked or flaked at all. I didnāt have as much smearing (almost none, but not zero) at my outer eye corners, which tends to happen by the time 5 or 6pm comes. Thatās a big deal because Iāve been horrified before when Iāve looked in the mirror and it looked like I had been crying or that Iām an oily mess. Iāve also noticed that I havenāt had the black goo in my inner eye corners that Iāve had before with other brands. Itās nice that itās supposed to condition the lashes! Iām only a week or two in now, so we will see on that, but everything else makes it my new fave.

Best eyeliner with the brush tip
My favorite eyeliner for winged eyes. I love the bristle, paintbrush type tip. You can really fine or thick lines with great accuracy. Glides on nicely and drives quickly with a bold color.

not as opaque or consistent as other brands
this is definitely not my favorite eyeliner. it just does not apply consistently. the skipping and occasionally even pulling up color while trying to fix an inconsistent line were frustrating. even when you can get a consistent application, the color is just not as bold or opaque as what I'm used to.

An Honest Take: Physicians Formula Ultra-Fine Liquid Eyeliner in Dark Brown
TLDR: Pros: Suitable for sensitive eyes; doesn't cause itchiness or irritation. Good longevity; doesn't smudge, even in hot weather. Lovely dark brown color. Precise application thanks to the brush tip. Budget-friendly option. Cons: Tendency to crumble if touched, so not ideal for habitual eye-rubbers. Requires multiple coats for intense pigmentation. The pencil may dry out faster than expected, making it less cost-effective. Who Should Buy: Individuals with sensitive eyes looking for an eyeliner that won't irritate. Those seeking a long-lasting eyeliner for warm weather. Makeup enthusiasts who prefer a dark brown eyeliner. People who are patient and don't mind shaking the product before use. Shoppers on a budget who want a decent eyeliner option. Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Hey there, fellow makeup enthusiasts! I wanted to share my thoughts on the Physicians Formula Ultra-Fine Liquid Eyeliner in Dark Brown, and I must say, it's been an interesting journey with this product. Let's dive in with an honest and friendly chat. First things first, if you have sensitive eyes like me, you'll appreciate that this eyeliner doesn't provoke any itchiness or irritation. That's a big win in my book, and it's why I keep coming back to it. Now, onto the performance. It's not the absolute best eyeliner I've ever used, but it's pretty good in terms of longevity. It won't smudge on you, even on sweltering days, which is impressive. However, there's a catch ā it does have a tendency to crumble if you touch it. So, if you're a habitual eye rubber, you might want to be cautious. The color, a lovely dark brown, is fantastic. However, it doesn't always come out as pigmented as I'd like. You might need to apply a few coats to get that rich, intense look. Also, be prepared for the pencil to dry out faster than you'd expect. That can be a bit frustrating, and it does make it pricier in the long run compared to non-liquid liners. But wait, there's a trick! A little shake-shake before application can work wonders, as some recent reviews have mentioned. It might take a bit of extra effort, but it's worth it because the brush tip on this eyeliner is a game-changer. It makes creating precise lines and those sassy cat-eyes a breeze. In the end, I'm in a bit of a love-hate relationship with this eyeliner. It's a dependable, wallet-friendly option for sensitive eyes, but it does have its quirks. If you're patient and don't mind the occasional shake, it might just become your go-to liner. As for me, I'll keep using it while I search for that perfect, hassle-free alternative. Happy makeup-ing, friends!
