First Lite Traverse Hunting Gaiters

I have used these for six days hard hiking. The terrain is essentially full of a variety of burrs, thorns, sticks, twigs and whatever else might fall into a boot or get tangled in a sock even with long pants. There are also a lot of ticks in my area. The main purpose was to protect me from both of the above.The good.They kept stuff out of my boots and kept the ticks off me.They are snug fitting, but I kinda like that they were not constantly rubbing against each other and kept my pants legs from doing the same.Mobility was excellent and they also breathe quite well. I did not have condensation build up underneath them in hot weather.The bad.One of the straps holding the front boot lace hook started unraveling day two and approached the rivets that hold the metal hook in. I re-melted the edge to stop the unraveling and hopefully caught it in enough time to prevent the hook from detaching.Somehow, one of them now has a hole in it on the instep side, which surprised me since I do not remember snagging it and pulling it free.Both of the straps that go around the bottom of the boot had strands hanging off them after only four days use. It was like the threading was coming out from the edges of the rubber type overcoating. I had to pull out the lighter and melt them so they would stop picking up thorny twigs, etc.-which make it a nuisance. I am not sure of the long term durability of the strap, and I am concerned because they are not replaceable.They collect thorns, grass burrs, and anything else that will stick you in the woods. This was a real pain when trying to get them off and it took about 15 minutes of picking to clean the crap off them.So, overall, they did what I wanted them to do but did not impress me with durability or ease of use. I rank them as average gear and my expectation is to replace them often. I was expecting something a little more durable in terms of the straps and webbing, so I feel mildly disappointed in that regard. Since I have not found anything that much better for hardcore summer hiking, I have already ordered a second pair rationalizing that these are 50 buck consumables.

I'm torn writing this review because they're high quality gaiters. But even though I got the largest size (LG/XL) they're still way too small. I'm 6'3" 210lb and I don't have big calves (hate to see it) but I can't even get them on, let alone on with a tight fit. I even went and watched the instructional video to be sure I wasn't goofing them up.I thought about returning them but figured I'd just let my wife keep them since they are nice gaiters.

Very comfortable, but they do let a bit of trail dust in through the fabric.

These gaiters are pretty short but work well. I am wondering if the strap will wear out over time.

Best lightweight gaiters I’ve used. 30 plus days in the Rockies, they held up well, some fray on the straps, but they are still holding up. Not water proof, but they dry much quicker than pants. Will buy again

Kept my boots dry, but the smaller size is definitely super tight. If you have larger calves or a shoe size larger than 8.5, I highly recommend sizing up.

I actually returned mine only because I messed up on the sizing. I will be purchasing again!

Absolutely the best you can buy. Has stood up to several upland hunting seasons.
