Q: Does the base need to be fastened down to the hot tub?

Yes, it has to be securely mounted. I have an old wooden enclosure so I got a flat piece of metal to bolt to the wood and then mounted the insulater to that.

Q: Do you have to disconnect any pump tubing to install ?

You'll need to have a look at your pump setup. Mine had rigid pipe, so I had to disconnect everything. Some spas are put in with flexible pipe, so you would have enough wiggle room to slide it under.

Q: Will it work under motor/ pump for Softub?

I used it for a hot tub spa. Works good

Q: Is it compatible with sta rite super max?

Almost all pumps have the same spacing On the bottom. Universal.
