It has a high gain, and is very clean. It's fairly sturdy and I like the extra long slimline cable included. We bought a couple to used as tap mics for dance performances and they pick up everything quite well. They're not as accurate as my old Crown PCC but they're a third of the price so it's a no-brainer for most applications.
