A Quick Read with Plenty of Action and a Timely Plot.
With each Dalton Fury novel I read I like his work more and more. Great characters and stories. This one dealing with North Korea is a nail biter.

So much better than the last!
MILD SPOILER REVIEWThis book was so much better than the last entry in the series! I was quite relieved. I'm glad that (so far) the author has not gone down the romance route by adding a token love interest. There have been hints or foreshadowing, but I'm hoping it's just attraction and nothing will come of it.I still wish there was less Hawk. It seems like such a random distraction in the series, to also throw in this constant push for female operators. I guess it must be the author's pet interest or something. As a woman, I'd rather just read about 'the guys' and not have to deal with this nagging subplot I have 0 interest in.I also wished, in hindsight, that there was more SEAL/Delta interplay. When I read the plot of this book months before it came out, I was pretty stoked. I hoped there would be a lot of humor and/or rivalry as the two units clashed. But there wasn't as much interplay as hoped.Glad that Racer saved Roscoe!

Dalton is a fine story teller and a good observer of specOps in ...
Dalton Fury provides an authoritative view of specOps that other other authors only wish they could duplicate. In Dalton's latest novel, he relies on his experience and that of other special operators to explore a rarely probed and arcane piece of military lore, the specOps, officer selection board. In his story, the main character, an in and out again, operator, Pike Logan, stands before his betters for promotion. Of course, he "stands" only figuratively because the selection board reviews secret files, not actual people. The board either marks the end of an officer operator's career or its continuance. After surviving, the board, Pike goes on to adventures only those in the community of operators can truly fathom, such as former operator, Dalton Fury.Dalton is a fine story teller and a good observer of specOps in the mold of Dick Couch. I am hopeful he continues to pursue his literary career. Moreover, Dalton should pursue a grander vision, such as specOps of the near future, perhaps with a more junior character than the colorful Pike.
