Sewing Clothes for Barbie: 24 Stylish Outfits for Fashion Dolls Paperback – February 13, 2018

I bought this book to give as a birthday present to a 10 year old friend along with some scraps of fabric. A few days later, she and her older sisters made a dress for her doll. Her mom said they all loved the book. I liked it because the patterns didn't seem complicated and there were a variety of styles, she could make and instructions to fit different her fashion dolls.

This book is just fantastic. The author really put together the easiest, cutest outfits to make.Never made any Barbie clothes before & barely have that much experience sewing but this has been easy enough for me to understand without making me feel slow.I also found a couple of videos on YouTube where a couple of the author's designs were made.The Garden Dress from this book & then one from the Haute Couture, Boutique, which I just ordered that book & will be here tomorrow, it has patterns for Ken, too.🤴I'm just having ggreat time & have shared my experience with this book with a self taught hand sewer of Barbie clothes.I trace the pattern I want, u have a choice of size, too, for each pattern as these days barbies are in different sizes, curvy,etc..I'm so looking forward to the days when when I give my completed outfits using the materials & accessories I chose that were different than suggested ones in book.Starting to get crafty & even adding to them.This is just such a great hobby for myself & sharing what I learn with others & most of all, looking forward to the day I 🎁 these works .I've got a whole workstation now.It's been great way to spend the winter when nothing better to to do than chill & create.Hope the Author does more books, my opinion, she does the best with telling you exactly the supplies you need & easy patterns without alot of additional unnecessary pcs. , easiest instructions & layouts of the important steps in the book without making the instructions for 1 PC. overwhelming g & confusing.This will leave you feeling like you really made something cute & unique. I scanned the pattern and printed it so that I could keep my book in tact. As I cut out the pattern pieces I place them in an envelope for future use. I just received my book yesterday and am looking forward to making some clothes." The author is a Parisian clothing designer and has a shop in Paris.Update: I made these outfits using the patterns in the book...What fun!

I was very excited to start sewing these patterns for my Granddaughter's Barbie collection. The first outfit I made was "Garden Party" and it turned out so cute, but apparently I traced the wrong pattern size and it did not fit the Barbie doll I recently purchased ( to use as a model ). I mistook the pattern lines of PINK and VIOLET (curvy vs. original) and the dress much too big for the doll. I'll try this one again for sure (it's that adorable!). I wish there was a way to tell on the packaging that indicates "size" doll you are buying, but I could not find that info. Bottom line, I rated the book 4 stars due to the color coding of the pattern sizes... check carefully before cutting!

My 8 year old granddaughter has taken up sewing and really enjoys it. I searched all the fabric/craft stores for a book like this. Low and behold, Amazon to the rescue. She still loves Barbie's so what better than a gift like this with all kinds of small pieces of colorful fabric and ribbons so she can now make her own Barbie clothes. It was her favorite Christmas gift. So glad I was able to find it. Highly recommend.

Bought this for a creative 9 year old grandchild and she loves it

There are some items depicted where no pattern is given (e.g., the shrug on pages 82-83) and from the pictures, the sewing is poor: fabric is too heavy or stiff, stitching is wonky and too large, no attention to finishing insides, and everything is closed with Velcro.If you’re sewing for a child, this might not matter. If you are sewing as an adult collector, you’re going to want to change construction.

Excellent book on how to make clothes for a Barbieexcellent ideas and I think it’s the only one that I’m seeing available. it reminds me old time books on how to make clothes.
