For those who might be alarmed that this milk-circuit cleaner is gel, or has congealed, or isn't powder — don't worry! it works fine! Simply use scissors to cut the sachet open on three sides and, with the tap set to a gentle flow of water, flush the open sachet under the tap so the cleaning agent is washed into the carafe; check the carafe is filled to maximum capacity, and then carry out the cleaning operation.

Sachets are a gel - not a powder (as clearly stated in Amazon product description), Squeezed as much as possible from the sachet, hard to know whether full content emptied out or not . Water looked the same before and after sachet content emptied out Certainly, not as good as the original Sage steam wand cleaner powder that shipped with the machine. I will throw the rest of these sachets away, I will purchase a sage powder branded product. Be warned - GEL - not POWDER
