A demitasse spoon is a diminutive spoon, smaller than a teaspoon. *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2020* It is important to understand the size of those spoons.While humanity was NOT wasting time especially pre cell phone era that lasted some piles upon piles of centuries when there truly with very few exception was nothing better to do but invent spoons...they managed to invent roughly 61 types of them.Luckily we don't trouble ourselves as much with spoon types and sizes but focus on food and drinks.Regardless there are few spoon species that lasted to our times and while not that many andrelatively easy to distinguish one from another, it is important to know the difference and how to spot them.While you have two spoons in your typical set of silverware/flatware which are big soup spoon andsmaller tea spoon that is usually too big for tea saucer and usually fells of of it with minimal movement :) there is also smaller tea spoon that you can find that is typically smaller then that included in typical flatware set.. and then.. there are the demitasse spoons.This very set is exactly that.. the fourth size from the top counting the soup spoon as the number one.So when you think of this very spoon think small.. think.. espresso cup and saucer.. tinny itsy bitsy cup and saucer calls for equally small spoon! and that is when you start looking for precisely this very set of spoons. Anything bigger would look goofy and out of place and proportions just like these very spoonswill look kind of funny placed next to standard 8oz cup on the saucer .. it will look like baby spoon.So it is all about the proportions.
