Meh
Ok to start this film pleasantly surprised me.The first jump scare really got me!Then it kind of slowed a bit, then lost me a little, then picked up again. It’s very short, says it’s around an hour and 20, sure half if that is credits (I’m exaggerating) but it is short. The acting is good and the storyline is perfectly acceptable.I quite liked the ending, I like it when films do that, on occasion. There was just something missing for me, can’t put my finger on it.There’s definitely worse out there but there’s also better.Worth a watch for free on amazon prime video.

her parents are useless and her friends are exactly the kind of idiots ...
You can’t really blame Amber (Courtney Hope) for wanting to leave her old life. She hates her jobs, her parents are useless and her friends are exactly the kind of idiots films like this can rarely do without: beautiful, beer swilling, joint smoking, lightly horny teens. So she decides to leave. She and her shallow pals hitch a ride in the back of a truck, which they are told is not strictly legal a practise, and so naturally, once in the back and sharing the space with driver Bernard’s (Bruce Payne) cargo, they’re swilling beer, smoking joints and getting intimate. Tuneless rock music, the wallpaper of such twits, is ubiquitous. So when Bernard displays erratic driving and shows no sign of stopping at their Chicago destination, or anywhere else, a little designer panic cracks their collective veneer.I’m being overly crusty: these youths are no worse than the swathe of other film-makers’ ideas of what the young are like. It is just so frustrating that the audience is asked to sympathise/empathise with such dull, mundane, always cocky braggarts. No variation, nothing to say of any interest; they’re feeling bored because they are boring, put pretty enough for any real heartache to appear – rightly or wrongly – as entirely superficial.Curious, they investigate the cargo and open one of the many boxes. Finding it leaking blood, they are then less than happy to find the truck stopping at what appears to be a slaughterhouse. Soon we meet Bernard’s boss Veronica (Saxon Trainor). She is a pouting diva who, if she had a moustache would be twirling it. Unluckily for the hapless pretties, she is the head of a group of vampires. This film is well produced, it ticks all the right boxes, the abattoir environment is very effective and the idea of it being a breeding ground for vampires is a good one. But just imagine if the gang of good guys weren’t idiots – imagine if they actually had personalities and were likeable? Only Amber emerges as someone interesting and memorable, and as the ending reveals, there’s a very good reason for that. Enjoyable, but contains little to separate it from other slasher films.

Another decent After Dark Originals film
I've had this one sitting on the shelf because the blurb on the back of the box hasn't really grabbed me. But after giving it a go I was pleasantly surprised - this is another well constructed film in the 'After Dark Originals' series. A group of kids from a small town get into the back of a truck and end up in a bad place. Putting it mildly. But this is not quite your typical horror pic where you are introduced to the characters, then there is a lightbulb moment for one of them and then a mad rush to kill everyone off except the lead actor. Not giving things away, but there is a flurry of action about a third of the way in and then you wonder how the thing is going to last for another hour. But there is a bit of a twist which keeps the interest going. Even so, this film is really short at 75 minutes and then the credits roll taking it out to 82 minutes end-to-end. I have this on Blu-ray, and the extra clarity was appreciated over DVD, especially as much of the film is quite dark and even in the daylight there are heavy overtones of brown and yellow. The audio is a good DTS HD MA 5.1 but there is lots of bass which does on occasion make it difficult to hear the dialogue.

PROWL After Dark Originals cert 18 5060255690062
G2Pictures 2011 presents a gory violent horror. Creatures are similar to vampires/zombies. Reminded of 28 Days Later and 30 Days Of Night. The trailers shown feature Husk which I'm selling as well as this. An indie film. The disc and case are in good condition. You might've seen Offspring, The Hills Have Eyes, Cheynobyl Diaries, REC, Evidence, Triangle, Diary Of The Dead, I Am Legend. Amber is the protagonist. Special features are trailers which is lame. Amber works at a butchers. There are opening shots of her running in a field. She is hanging out with friends at Ray's house. Her friend Suzy invited her out. She is on the look out for an apartment in the city. She is joined by Peter and a curly haired guy with glasses named Eric. Suzy is attractive as is Amber. A guy and girl were at the house, Ray and Fiona. Ambers' mum is a drinker. Dustin is an estate agent and he needs the money soon. She is desperate. The friends go on a trip together. Unfortunately the car breaks down. Luckily a truck driver has pulled up. Famfield is the town they are leaving. On their way to Chicago. Bernard the driver seems to have taken a detour. At an abandoned warehouse something nasty lurks in the dark. These monsters sure move quickly. Leaping and flying. Like Spider-Man. There is no infection once bitten. Good special effects and acting from all the cast. I hope you check this out.
