Purchased for birthday present and within 5 minutes of opening necklace falls off because the clasp doesn't stay latched. The spring inside is sticking out and quite sharp

My stepson calls this necklace his drip. I don't understand that reference, but whatever lol. He enjoys it - HOWEVER, the chain is too wide for the pendant to actually fit on it, so he can't even wear it.
