The Green Book: 1962 Facsimile Edition

I searched for an original, but they don't seem to exist. But that's OK, because the retro comic book outfit that prints them, did a great job reproducing them from originals. Owning one was essential for an emerging Black middle class going on a family vacation, had to navigate the widespread segregation policies which were legal until the 1964 Civil Rights bill made formal segregation illegal, after which the Greene Guides were no longer needed, and the Black travel network began to unravel.

I’m a history buff and didn’t know the history. I grew up in the time of marches and desegregation so this was new to me. Ordered older versions going to ‘59 . Gave as gifts to 2 people who also had not heard.Realized these places in book provided safe places for musicians, etc on the road

Provides great history ... and good for use in social justice conversations with others

Reminder of racial discrimination and ignorance during a shameful segment of our past.

After watching the movie, I was interested in reading the book for myself. So interesting to look back at a time not so long ago. I’ve already shared it with friends.

Born in 1962 I've lived & traveled to other countries & a few states, having a copy of "The Green Book" puts traviling today in perspective.

As a black American doing genealogical research, this book helps me to better understand the trials and tribulations of my ancestors as they navigated America's Jim Crow south. I'm very excited to have this copy.
