Grind away.
Came on time. Take a war to the brick mortar, this thing will defeat the mortar. The only thing that is frustrating is it will only get about three inches in.

Great add for your angle grinder
I like the Prodiamant carbide tipped attachment for an angle grinder. It is packaged neatly and well made also. It fits on my 4.5" Ryobi angle grinder and installation is easier than switching wheels. I used it for grinding down some preciously messy mortar work for a new flashing job. It did great. It took some effort, but this is masonry work we're talking about here. It shouldn't be easy. I predict it would do good at fully removing old mortar in preparation for tuckpointing as well. I just haven't used it for that yet. Just be sure to order the right size for the gap in between your bricks as they offer different diameter bits. It can drill into the gaps at a depth of about 1 inch. It is a good tool attachment and gets my recommendation.

Works Great!
We recently bought an older home in need of many repairs and updates, one being the mortar holding the rock together is cracking in some places. This little device when attached to his grinder will dig out the uneven and cracking parts of the mortar so that he can then go back in and put new mortar in the space where he ground out the older stuff. He has only used it a couple times so far but says it works great!
