Purchased this as a gift for a friend. It an absolutely gorgeous sign! Fans she loved it!

There are no instructions and with chalkboards, there are processes for "curing" the board so it doesn't imprint permanently. Also, a "Blackboard cloth" was supposed to be included and it was not.

But there’s a dent right in the middle of the board. So sad

Wood was split in a couple of places and packaging was hard to remove. Still can’t get some of the plastic off the board without scratching it

I use this at occasional outdoor events for my boyfriend's law firm... for instance, when we hosted a blood drive, we placed it at the entrance of the parking lot, letting people know they would receive a free lunch (among other things) if they donated blood.I love how portable it is. It's heavy enough to reflect its high quality, yet not too heavy to lift and carry. Needless to say, the ability to 'close' it also helps in portability -- and in saving storage space.The metal hinges (2) at the top, and the little chain at the bottom are great as well.As mentioned in my headline, the only thing I don't really like about this is the fact that I cannot remove all of the stick-on/peel off plastic 'wrap' that served as protection from damage during shipment. It seems as if the plastic was put on the boards BEFORE the wood frame, so it's caught underneath.As much as I would prefer the leftover 'edge plastic' not be there, the pros far outweigh that one con.An added bonus was the blue mitt for cleaning off the chalk; it works SO much better than a paper towel, etc. It's machine washable as well (though it can be used a long time before it needs washing.)Recommend!

This would have gotten 5 stars because it's just beautiful. But it had a scratch (in the upper right hand in the picture) maybe from shipping? So it's perfect except for that.It can be used for weddings, showers, parties, even garage sales so I thought it was worth ordering. We always have something going on like that.And to have something so classy looking, it adds a lot to the event.
