The book is lavishly illustrated and all the key topics are covered. The book's main limitation is that it is is focussed mostly on lead-acid batteries and series-wound DC motors. The newer Lithium ion cells have revolutionised electric vehicles and very efficient AC motors are becoming available at prices that are in reach of the amateur. Just for example the management of Lithium ion cells deserves a chapter of its own in a book of this type. One other observation (not really a complaint) is that the core explanatory material is limited to about 100 pages. The remainder is details of sample projects and appendices (valuable though they are).
