Fantastically Great Women Who Made History: A fantastic gift for any child who dreams of shaping the future! : Pankhurst, Kate: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Surpassing its predecessor - We already bought the first book in this series, “Great women who changed the world”, well over a year ago. I left that book a neutral desertcart review. In short because it was a n excellent idea and neatly illustrated book. However our daughter despite being a voracious reader, for months didn’t show the slightest form of interest in the material at all - betraying the feminist cause at a very young age! ..however.. she has been reading it apparently. AND she picked up quite a bit. We’re only finding out recently when in the Natural History museum she pointed Mary Anning (the fossil woman). And she could tell me about Frida Kahlo while watching Pixar’s Coco movie. Also she demonstrated knowledge about Amelia Earhart and Anne Frank when these women came up. So the book left a deep impression after all and the combination of interesting facts and attractive illustrations must work really well. As such I gradually warmed up to buy her the follow up book in the series. ‘Woman who made history’ is more appealing to us as both me and my daughter are history enthusiasts. I was afraid there would be overlap with the first book. But a whole new batch of historically remarkable women is populating the pages. With Boudicca and Hashpetut among our daughter’s favourites. We were hoping to see Aethelflaed, Elanor of Aquitaine, Theodora of Byzantium or queen Victoria include. But clearly these could be included in a potential future instalment “Great Queens in History”. Review: Lovely non fiction book - Lots of children find non fiction books a little boring and won’t necessarily choose them first. This book makes history fun and interesting through its amazing images and layout. Great book for using in the classroom or at home!

Surpassing its predecessor
We already bought the first book in this series, “Great women who changed the world”, well over a year ago. I left that book a neutral Amazon review. In short because it was a n excellent idea and neatly illustrated book. Lovely accessible book with a diverse range of women
I bought this during lockdown for my 9 year old daughter to learn history. It is accessible , concise and engaging. My daughter was easily able to negotiate the facts that were presented within the book and now has a wide knowledge of historically important women. What I really loved about this book was the diversity of women that it looked at , from all countries, careers and ethnicities. I hadn’t heard of some of these women but the information provided was interesting and engaging.. I have recently discovered that this series also coms with a corresponding workbook. I have now ordered this to accompany this book and shall be purchasing the rest of the series as a Christmas present. Really highly recommended.

Great quality
I bought 4 of these as a birthday gift for my 9yr old niece and they didn’t disappoint. I think the reading age given is a little low as there is a lot of information on each page and I can see a little one of around 6yrs loosing interest easily but would still be great to have to read to them in segments. All the books are produced with great quality paper and worth the price! (Also as they were a gift I was SO relieved that they arrived without the dreaded Amazon sticker stuck on to them😅).

Good - but not for 6 year old's
So I bought this book for a six year old but I think the writing is too small and it's too complex. The book is brilliant but I regret purchasing for a six year old. I read many reviews and lots of people said it was good for their 6 year olds so I guess every child is different. I think it's a good idea if you read a page or 2 a night to your child before they go to sleep. Would be better if she was at least 7 but even then it's still tricky. Also I should have checked the size of this because the book is so small!

We love this!
Following on from Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World, this book introduces young readers to more fantastic women role models. A wonderfully original and diverse collection of women, including some names children may have come across through Horrible Histories etc, like Boudicca and Harriet Tubman, as well as fascinating women who they are less likely to have come across before, like Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut and pirate queen Sayyida al-Hurra. With the fun and accessible approach that make the first book such a success, this is full of information and inspiration. The level of detail makes this book perfect for key stage 2 as well as younger readers. We love it!

So inspirational, such incredible women
This was so creatively made, the way the facts were shared and the way you could follow a certain path to get the stories of each woman told in the correct order. I had so much fun to read this, it was so creative and exciting. I loved learning about so many incredible and inspiring women of history, it’s unbelievable some of the things that they did, from fighting the injustice of the world, to being strong rulers or inventing something that would help the future and so so many more things. These woman were all absolutely incredible people who know they they had the power and the voice, the drive and determination and did it no matter the cost or the risk. They didn’t let the no’s and the differences stop them, they went for it and thats powerful and incredibly inspiring. The illustrations were adorable and I loved seeing them all, seeing the way they were drawn all the little speech bubbles dotted around them. All the different paths to follow for each woman, seeing the era they were from depicted within the art. So much to look at on each page I loved it so very much. This is honestly such a wonderful way to get children to learn facts, it’s really fun and incredibly engaging but still so jam packed full of information so they are able to learn and absorb it all without being bored or overwhelmed by it all. I’m so happy a book like this exists it was so incredible.

It’s a nice book for toddlers really. I was expecting a little more for the price I paid. Even though it’s colorful and interesting, there are more pictures than information and the book only has a few pages. Not really worth it

Muy buena calidad a muy buen precio. Me encantan las ilustraciones, la encuadernación también buena. Soy profesora de inglés y mi idea es utilizarlo en clase con los estudiantes.
