Easy to use on toenails!!! Came in a nice snap shut case. Glad that I bought it.

Having entered my ninth decade, I've developed toenails that bear a strong resemblance to gnarly ironwood burls...especially on the big toes. I've learned to soak my feet in a hot epson salt bath for at least an hour - that softens the nails on the smaller eight toes to the point they are much easier to cut. The two boulders? Not so much, but a little.These clippers are sharp, well made, open wide, and are angled for easy attack - they are strong. I have other specialized toenail clippers that may be as strong, but not as well-designed. With these clippers I can easily get under the nails, into the corners, and control the process. They work. I still needed all my strength to cut the two big nails, but this little tool can take the pressure, and is easy to hold while cutting.Only one problem, and it's more on me than the clippers - I'm diabetic, and have lost the feeling in my feet, so I get no warning pain to tell me if I've penetrated too deep. On one toe I sliced off a bit of meat as well as the nail. Apparently the main branch of the femoral artery in that leg runs directly to the end of that toe. I put the foot back in the soak-tub to let the wound go, hoping the blood flow would slow or stop. Nope. Two gallons of salt water turned opaque crimson in about ten seconds - I was about to call the local hospital and ask them to prepare a couple of units of A+. Fortunately, plan B worked - I wrapped the foot in an old towel, hobbled to my bedroom, lay down on my back with my foot straight up, and in 15 minutes it slowed to a gentle seepage.So enough of the horror story. I'm just saying, take it easy with this tool, especially if, like me, you've lost the nerve feedback from your feet. With care, it makes a quick job of cutting tough nails.
