This book is everything💛
It's best not to be ashamed of a body that heals itself with such beauty." Jessie Hall brings us the masterpiece of sports romance with The Canary Cowards. A book so wonderful that I have not stopped thinking about it since I finished it. A book filled with so much emotion the I will remember lines from his book for a long time. A book that filled my heart, ripped it apart and put it back together again. A standalone that I will recommend over and over again. I cannot sing enough praises for this story. I truly haven't felt this range of emotions while reading in a very long time. The depth of this book and the characters had me laughing one minute and crying the next. The family dynamic of Dylan and Colin is heartwarming. A sister so devoted to her brother that she will do anything to make sure he is good..... And then we have Lake. The cocky NFL star who needs to get back to his team. Lake surprised me the most. His character was so complex and different than what I was expecting. So well written and truly a wonderful story ARC......And Chapter 57....Utterly destroyed me. This book caught me off guard and it will be a top read for me this year. A story I was not expecting and not knowing I needed it but grateful that I found it. A true masterpiece with such a fantastic autism and mental health representation. A story that will stay with me for a long time after reading that last page....if I could give this book a million stars, I would.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You get absorbed into their lives and just want them to get through their hurdles. Lake, Dylan, and Colin were meant to be.Jescie is so talented. Anything she writes I will read, re-read, and just recommend so much. Her books come to life in my head and I can never unsee. Every book she has written have incredible main characters that secretly struggle with relatable issues. Even her side characters play big parts in her books.

Sidelines are for the weak, we don't' do weak here!
ating- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5Heat Index- 🌶️🌶️.5/5Love ****** hurts. And occasionally, we all lack the courage to embrace the torture that it is. It’s not easy, and doesn’t always align the way you wish. It’s a give and pull, a race that feels unfinished, a dizzying circle of highs and lows. Some days you’re in first place, and some days the flat sends you to the pit crew, disappointment racking through you. But if we don’t have the courage to hop into the car and take the first lap, then what’s the point? Sidelines are for the weak, and if there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that we don’t do weak here.Canary Cowards by Jescie Hall is a touchdown of a read that had me feeling like I scored a major win. Jescie is amazing, I think at this point I have 5-starred all of her books. She truly knows how to craft narratives that range from dark and spicy to heartwarming and emotionally charged. There has not been a single book of hers I was able to put down and this one was no exception. This book takes you on a touching journey as it delves into the lives of two characters dealing with their own baggage. It's all about opening up, accepting their flaws, and finding the courage to face their fears.I embarked on this one blindfolded, not knowing what to expect. Let me tell you, I wasn't prepared for the emotions it gave me. This book isn't just a love story; it's a beautiful, raw journey through the lives of Lake and Dylan, two characters who are as broken as a bag of chips at a tailgate party. The story is all about vulnerability, acceptance, and learning not to be a coward in matters of the heart.Dylan, a determined and self-sacrificing physiotherapist, is a character you'll admire from the start. Dylan's selflessness knew no bounds, often putting her own happiness on the back burner to ensure her brother Colin's well-being and happiness. Now, let's talk about Colin – a character that I absolutely adore. He's hands down one of my all-time favorite literary creations. His portrayal in this book is nothing short of beautiful. What truly distinguishes this story is its genuine and sensitive portrayal of autism through Colin's character. SHE NAILED IT! You can tell careful consideration and research went into his character. It's a representation that resonates with authenticity, making the story even more heartfelt and real. Colin is an absolute delight, and his unwavering love for Dylan shines throughout.Lake, on the surface, might seem like your typical arrogant jock, straight out of the tabloids. But as you peel back the layers of his character, you discover a cinnamon roll wrapped up in absolute delight. He falls hard and fast, and his thoughtfulness and care for Dylan will make your heart do somersaults. I absolutely adored the dynamic between Lake and his mother. Their dynamic hit me straight in the heart. The chemistry between Dylan and Lake, my god so good! The tension, the banter that you can’t get enough of. And that BOOK SCENE, girllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. My new favorite microtrope. The book expertly balances heartbreak and hope, I found myself cheering from the sidelines for these two, and their third musketeer, Colin. Jescie has such a talent; you owe it to yourself to read this one.PS! That ending though, I’m screaming!

new favorite book!
So beautiful and perfect. Definitely a favorite book of mine.Review to come after I can compose my thoughts.————————————Vibes were strong. If by vibes you mean my heart was so deeply embedded in this book with these characters that I honestly felt like I was right there experiencing everything that Dylan and Lake felt. This story was so beautiful, showcasing the reality of life with hardships and pain alongside the good. Despite thinking she cannot let anyone back into her life, Lake is determined to have Dylan let him in and their story is so perfect. I haven’t cried so hard reading a book in a while, if ever, but every tear was worth it. Seeing Dylan protect and care for her autistic brother with such fierce love was so sweet. She’s strong and powerful, something to be admired greatly. What really got me sobbing was when her brother, Colin, had such true words of wisdom for both Dylan and Lake - needing to hear what he has to say at those exact moments.Jescie, this book is a freaking masterpiece and so beautiful overall. I absolutely loved it!

Amazing story!
This book was a fantastic read, Jescie Hall never disappoints! I am generally not a sports romance person, but this one was so much more than sports. Both characters had realistic personal problems, one dealing with his mother’s illness and the other dealing her brother’s special needs. I love seeing how two seemingly broken individuals find and heal each other. The banter was witty (I def chuckled a few times), the feelings were very real and there were some teary 🥲 moments for sure. Overall, this was a great read!

A beautiful journey between both torned characters
This is the journey of Dylan and Lake.It is an enemies to lovers with two strong characters and their own demons. Heavy past, difficult present with their loved ones. But it is a sport romance between an injured footballer and his physical therapist. The spice is spicy. 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 even the spice is 💕

Not an easy journey, but it's worth it.
The storyline was truly beautiful, the characters just amazing and the relationships pure perfection. It is a contemporary sports romance that follows Dylan, an upcoming physiotherapist that gets stuck working with Lake, who is injured famous football player to help rehabilitate him back in the game. We can immediately see that there is a spark between them, but Dylan can't risk losing her job, since she is a caregiver for her autistic brother (Colin). It was a wholesome love story that makes you feel good, but also makes you cry a lot. But it’s not just all that it’s also a story about trauma, loss, heartbreak, acceptance, willingness to open up and allow others in.Dylan is such a beautiful FMC - strong, courageous, and passionate. A true fighter. And the relationship she has with her brother Colin is absolutely beautiful and so heartwarming.Lake - your typical cocky, arrogant, alpha, self assured MMC, but who’s also a total softie at heart and watching his character develop throughout the story was beautiful.I'm convinced Jescie could write any genre of romance, the way she writes a story that sucks you in so much just incredible and her characters always have such a depth to them. So this book is one I definitely recommend you pick up.
