Don’t buy the waterproof one, buy the regular pallet!!!!
I bought the waterproof pallet thinking I needed the paint to withstand an Oregon climate. When it arrived, I tested it and couldn’t spread the paints well. The coverage was splotchy and I went back to read reviews. The waterproof set was poor and the regular set was stellar.I quickly ordered the regular set with rave reviews and it arrived in just 3 days. The coverage and ease was beautiful. I’ve never done face paint and I wanted to go all out as Anger from Inside Out. I wore this all day in a kindergarten classroom and it never smeared, cracked or transferred onto my white shirt!Best of all—after having my face painted for 12 hours IT DIDN’T STAIN MY SKIN!!!! Washing my face was easy and I didn’t break out. 10/10 recommend!

Horrible
This review is specifically for the waterproof oil based palette. I bought this based on the reviews, only to realize the majority of the reviews on this product actually come from their other product which is a water activated face paint. This palette was extremely hard to spread, the instructions say to use a damp sponge or a damp brush to activate the paint and make it spreadable, this does NOT work. the water sits on top of the paint and unless you grab a big GLOB of the paint you can't get a good pigment, and when you grab a big glob it's so hard to spread! It took 45 minutes to cover my sons face green for a costume party, he got so fed up we didn't finish. To top it off even if you can get the water to mix in and get the paint out of the palette it comes off super streaky with both a sponge and a brush. the brush is far worse for streaks. I tried alcohol too which was the other recommendation in the instructions and that worked less than the water. The paint will NOT come out of the brushes at all, I had to soak them in rubbing alcohol for an hour and scrub them hard to get the paint off.Upon opening the palette there is oil all over the case. I would NOT recommend this palette to anyone other than maybe a super professional that can figure it out. I did look up other oil based palettes that show video of the users putting a slight amount of water on the top and getting a nice clean pigmented easy to spread paint so maybe mine was just defective. I tried everything but it just DOES NOT WORK.

Just ok first kit
The Blue Squid Pro kit might have a decent color range and easy cleanup going for it, but that's where the sunshine ends. Getting a solid color down was like trying to spread stubborn peanut butter on cold toast - you had to put in some serious elbow grease. And forget about achieving those delicate details you were dreaming of.While it might work for some basic face painting fun with the kiddos, if you're looking for professional-level results or vibrant, high-quality paints, you're better off steering clear. Think of it as a stepping stone, a "practice makes perfect" kind of kit before you graduate to the paints that'll truly let your inner Picasso take flight.

Amazing face paint! So happy!
This face paint is oil based. Great coverage, easy to use. Blends nicely, Very smooth and great results. Awesome high quality brushes sent with it and excellent instructions. They recommended taking the face paint off with oil olive and it worked like a charm. Extremely happy with this purchase. $14.99 was a very fair price for good quality. I would happily recommend and buy it again!! I actually did recommend it to my whole dance team.

There's a learning curve...
Tried using sponges, the brushes, my fingers...wet and dry...it did not apply as easily as I expected it to, but it was my first time using face paint. I suspect there must be some kind of learning curve. That being said, after a few layers of application, I was impressed by how lightweight the makeup feels. I didn't have a reaction to it, but post taking it off, it does seem like I may have a minor break out to deal with tomorrow. No biggie. We painted my hubby's face blue (Thrawn) and while the color was richer, it had a harder time sticking evenly. My husband does have slightly more oily skin, so that may have something to do with it.The blue does take significantly more scrubbing to remove too. Overall, though, we were impressed by the quality of this product and enjoyed the variety of colors to work with. It may not look like a lot of paint for each color, but after several coats full face-coverage, there's still plenty left over.Would buy again.

Not great
The 20 color waterproof paint is not very pigmented and difficult to spread. It is oil based so it is a little thick. Hardly adheres to the brush. Not what I was hoping for.

BEWARE - Bait & Switch - 'Waterproof' IS GREASE PAINT.
The media could not be loaded. As of October 8, there was not a single review of the Blue Squid PRO 20x10g Classic Color Palette with Paint Brushes, a fact that I did not notice when I purchased that product for myself and as a gift for my kid. There is NOTHING in the description that identifies this as grease paint, but it IS grease paint. I thought I was purchasing water-based paint because that's what I wanted, NOT GREASE PAINT. Instead, this grease-paint product as marketed together, as if it's an alternate size rather than a totally different product, with the much more expensive Blue Squid PRO, 12x10g Classic Color water-activated Palette, which both the description and excellent reviews (4.7/5.The company is obviously selling this grease-paint product, which is a different animal entirely from water-based paints, on the coat-tails of the product reviews of their water-based paint. The Blue Squid Store (seller) needs to pony up the extra $ for a separate selling page for their grease-paint, and sell that product honestly on its own merits, rather than trick customers into buying one product with their star rating of a very different product.
