Great resource, but slow reading
This is a great scholarly resource, but certainly not for the casual reader. It moves very slowly and is at times long-winded about the minutia of manuscripts. That said, I think Boone's close study is the go-to source for an introduction to central Mexican manuscript painting. Read for the summary content at the beginning and ends of chapters, but try not to get bogged down in the details, which are lavished generously.

fascinating!
If you've always been curious but baffled by Aztec or Mixtec illustrations, this is the text for you! Fantastic descriptions help a visual learner. In some places it's a little difficult to find the illustration that is being described. But overall, a fascinating and useful text.

A guide to pre-Colombian Graphic Novels
A fascinating and authoritative review of the many and varied pre-Colombian style documents of Mesoamerica. I didn't find it an easy read because of the concentrated coverage and the unfamiliar names. But, despite the wealth of detail, it still felt like an introduction to the subject rather than a comprehensive reference encyclopedia. Nevertheless it's a work I'll be going back to. A pity that the budget didn't run to colour printing, but there are Internet sources (the FAMSI site for one) for many of the Codicies. Internet browsers please note: the PDF extracts from this book on the web do not do justice to the delicacy of the grey-scale printing in the book. I knocked a star off because of the unnecessary space in the book devoted to a somewhat patronising guide to the basics of Graphic Design.

Good service
Great service, very prompt. Book was lacking the dust jacket (pretty sure that wasn't in the description), a minor point. Other than that, very happy with purchase! Fascinating book.

A good review of these pictorial histories
Although my particular interest is the political and military history of the Mixtecs, and this book doesn't directly deal with it, I've found the background information invaluable for contextualising these works.
