It’s very strange to me because it’s kind of a hot pink and I hate that color?!? But this is just such an amazing mixer and is actually somehow beautiful to me on its own. It is duochrome, which I love, so maybe that’s why. It somehow has a cherry, almost yellow leaning mass tone, and has a slightly blue leaning tone when watered down. It’s also a little bit muted so maybe that’s why it lends itself so readily to the perfect realistic yet vibrant shades? I love paring it with py 129 azo green (which is a cool yellow) to make the perfect quinacradone gold substitute. It’s also gorgeous with ultramarine blue. Will it be the only red you need? No. If I need a bright scarlet that is yellow leaning pyrrol scarlet is necessary. But if I had to choose a versatile red for a limited pallet, hands down, this is the most useful. Gold is no longer available, it's my understanding that the original pigment is no longer produced (you may find tubes of the original pigment from second hand sellers). The current version of Quinacridone Gold is a dual pigment color made with PY150 (Nickel Azo Yellow) + PO48 (Quinacridone Burnt Orange) so this color can be mixed from those two but I find that I love having this color for convenience. **Q: How does quinacridone rose compare with permanent rose in other brands which is what I'm used to.** A: Each brand of every color, regardless of its name, is different. A permanent rose in one brand is not necessarily the same as a permanent rose in another. When you say compared to, do you mean in shade, transparency, light fastness, or? I think Daniel Smith's quin rose is a beautiful color and use it frequently. **Q: Is this PO49?** A: PO49 was supposed to have run out back in Sept 2017, roughly, so I wondered this as well.
