Easiest flip ( non smart) phone to operate; didn't work well on Mint but fine on T-Mobile prepaid
5/30/22: edited for typos A bit of background....verbose but ultimately helpful: The discontinuation of 3G resulted in my parents' mobile provider (AT&T postpaid ) sending them "free" Alcatel 4G VoLTE capable phones. Easy directions to activate were included ....except the phones would not activate. My parents had a grandfathered plan that was $25 a month and their phones were so old that they had mini SD cards, instead of micro or Nano. After hours on the phone with AT&T customer service personnel I went to an AT&T store to see if I could get Nano SD cards for the new phones because obviously the mini SD cards would not fit. They told me that they could not activate the phones and they could not honor their current plans. They wanted to put each of my parents on a $75 per month unlimited data plan and they would have to get new nano SD cards for the new flip phones. I told them my parents do not use data and that is why they use flip phones and not smartphones. Very long story short, even AT&T prepaid plans were more expensive because they needed a minimum of four lines to be affordable. There are two people involved, my mother and my father. I talked them into leaving AT&T and I returned the free flip phones obtained from AT&T and canceled their service. I have been on Mint mobile with a $15 per month plan for years and it's fine for me, I have a low-end smartphone and it does everything I need. I bought ultimately several different flip type non smart phones for my parents. A few were incredibly difficult to navigate, a few like this one just did not seem to work adequately on Mint mobile. I will now focus on the Easyfone itself. For anyone wondering I can tell you from using many different flip type non-smartphones this truly is one of the most intuitive to use. A long press on the red telephone button turns it on and also turns it off. A quick press of the red button ends a call. To make a call just dial the number and hit the green telephone button and it displays calling. In my opinion the best part of the phone is that there is no so-called desktop. Most flip phones have every icon on the inside screen. There is much clutter. On the Easyfone you only get an icon when you press the menu button. And you get one icon at a time. It fills the entire screen. In other words it's a clear large icon with words at the top that tells you what that choice does. For anyone who likes simplicity or who may have eyesight issues, this is very welcome. The keypad has large buttons and there's a center menu button and around the perimeter there are printed arrows. This was very important to my parents because phones with an unlabeled "ring" around the center button that essentially acts as a four-way arrow was very hard for my parents to operate. They have no trouble with this phone. It's very comfortable in one's hand and is light but feels substantial. I had very good response when I emailed customer service when I initially activated the phone on Mint and had a few issues. I also contacted them about getting a second battery, as I liked my parents to carry a charged spare battery with them. Lastly the cradle charger would be nice for someone with dexterity problems. I personally have not used it because I find I knock it over and I have used the regular micro USB charger on the side of the phone. But it is very nice that it has this feature. Ultimately if you're still reading this I thank you LOL and encourage you to give this phone a try. It solves so many problems. My mom loves it; I ended up getting my dad a more durable rubbery phone because this one slipped out of his hand quite a bit. He has large hands and needed something with more grip so I will review separately the phone he is using now (Plum Ram 4G LTE).

Great little basic cell phone!!! But I had some issues now!!!.
Love this little phone fits in the palm of my hand and is light not heavy like my smart phone was. So much easier to use then my smart phone!!! I don't have to have WiFi to set it up, can hold over 500 names. Just and FYI you can only add names and phone numbers no address etc. The names can only be around 20 letters, no dashes in the phone number. Texting is much easier for me to see and do. The battery last a long time!!! I have a landline and only use this phone for long distance phone calls and emergency calls. Note: If you need a case I use my case that my smart phone was using as I don't like to carry a purse plus this gives me easy access to my phone. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile using their prepaid cell plan of $10 a month. This was my last hope on getting a basic cell phone. I didn't need a smart phone don't use any apps etc. This phone is all I need!!! Hope it keeps working. If you have questions you can email customer service directly at [email protected], it takes a day for them to reply back to you. *****UPDATE: 8/27/22 Having problems with the phone now when I call long distance phone won't work have to shut it off then restart it. Also, I can't hear the phone ringing. Have emailed customer service on this issues and the test came back that there is no problem with the phone but there is. The phone even shut itself off one time too. It is a same I loved the phone but wasted money on this one. Can't find another simple basic phone from Verizon or T mobile now. Just bought this 6/2/22, and less the 45 days the phone doesn't work right even after I got another sim card!!!!!

Great Phone with Great Customer Service
Our first couple of days with this phone were not very happy. We bought the phone to work with Tello, which we had been using reliably with another phone for a couple of years. This phone was slated to work with Tello but when we tried to use it, it didn't work properly. At first I thought it was a Tello issue but after trying hard they couldn't fix it. I then decided to contact customer support for this phone, using the contact info provided in the Q&A section of this page. They suggested doing a software update (which required a Windows 10 computer - I learned that after wasting my time on two Windows 11 computers). When I was able to do the software update, the problem went away and we are now very happy with this phone. Had I given up, I would have sent the phone back but I am glad that they understood the problem (related to the TMobile network that Tello uses) and were able to provide a fix that resolved the issue so that we can keep the phone. So five stars for a great phone and five star for great service. I suggested that they update the software themselves before sending the phones out and they said they would do that, but if you find yourselves having issues with Tello or other TMobile services, they can be fixed with a software update. The only feature I would like to see improved is the texting. It works like old phones, where each message is in a separate thread, making it harder to follow conversations. It would be good if they could provide a conversation-based layout where each interaction with the same number is grouped together, like on almost all modern phones. Update: phone broke easily, local repair guy laughed at the idea of fixing a flip phone so not able to get it fixed. Oh well, need a sturdier model for a teenage boy.

not as easy to use as advertised
I bought this for my elderly mom who is in a nursing home. I bought this because they said it was easy to use for the elderly. Well, not so. It is not completely fool proof for an elderly person with a touch of dementia. There is a sliding on/off feature on the side of the phone that sucks because it is not easy to turn on and off OR her hand will turn it off by accident. The four easy to dial buttons are okay but there are several reasons why an elderly person would have trouble using them because there is more than one way to answer the phone. An elderly person does not need that option... there should only be one way to answer the phone for an older person like my mom. So, I do not recommend this phone for a person who is elderly. I think I could have designed a better phone for the elderly myself but this is not the one. To be fair it might work if your elderly person has no issues with dexterity.

Terrible phone unless you live in a city surrounded by cell tow
I bought this phone for my 90 year old father who lives in the suburbs. I switched him to Consumer Cellular because Verizon was ripping him off. This phone looked like a good choice for him because it was light weight and was just for taking and receiving calls. The phone was nearly USELESS and I tried EVERYTHING. It dropped calls all of the time and constantly throttled through different bars and service levels. I got it for him in March and by time summer rolled around I ended up buying a cell signal booster for his home to improve the call quality. If you went outside his home nearly no bars. With the signal amplifier in his home he could get 4 bars but it kept dropping calls and searching. The phone was very light weight not even one ounce with the battery in it and I suspect the lack of weight meant very little metal in the phone to serve as an antenna. I threw this phone out it’s not something you want to give to a senior to suffer with. It’s a joke. I bought him a brand new Nokia 2780 flip phone and immediately the phone works perfect and yields crystal clear quality. If you bought this piece of junk for a loved one do yourself a favor a buy them a brand new Nokia 2780 trust me you won’t regret it and the Nokia is cheaper $$$ too !

Not Senior Friendly
This phone has been the bane of my existence. I purchased this phone for my elderly parents. The positive is that it has push number buttons so I could trick my mother into thinking it was NOT a cell phone. (She did not want a cell phone.) The negatives are that it is small and the size is not written in the description of the product. I wish it had volume buttons on the side of the phone rather than in the settings. Thankfully, I brought the manual with me so I could look at it while talking to my parents. (I live in another state.) I still have not figured out the volume setting so they just use the speaker for now. I am most disappointed about the size of the phone and the settings. It certainly does not make it easy navigating the phone for seniors. I bought this phone for my parents in July, it is now October. So far, they have managed to change the settings so they can't make outgoing calls, couldn't receive incoming calls, messed up the volume so they couldn't hear incoming caller's voice. The volume of the other caller is changed in the settings under FM radio. The phone is not user friendly for seniors. There are too many settings for them to mess up. I'm buying them a different kind of phone. **Now my parents can't receive any calls, it goes straight to voice-mail. I went into the "called barred, called divert, call forwarding settings and need a password to turn off. I'm not even sure if this is the solution. At this point, I have suffered enough with this phone!!!

Needed to upgrade software
I bought this for my 82 yr. old father who doesn't own a computer and is very averse to technology. I previously bought him a smart phone and even created a video to show him how to use it but he did not like it. I paired this phone w/ a Mint Mobile prepaid SIM. Immediately I noticed that the vast majority of calls to the phone, probably 95%, would immediately go to voice mail. I thought something was wrong w/ the settings but I couldn't figure it out. I finally contacted the manufacturer via the email address on the back of the users manual. The company contacted the very next day and said that the problem was due to an upgrade that Tmobile made on their 4G network. To fix the problem I would have to choose a different provider, they suggested Red Pocket or I could upgrade the software on the phone. I chose the upgrade. The next day they emailed my a link to download the software to my phone's SD card. They included a very easy to follow set of instructions w/ pictures and a video to complete the upgrade. Immediately the upgrade fixed the problem and the phone is working like it should. So far I really like the simplicity of the phone. It has a loud ringer, which my dad needs since his hearing is not great. It has a big loud speaker that is very clear for talking. The SOS feature works very nicely. I love that it will send a message to five people all at once and begin automatically calling your SOS contacts, all with a push of the SOS button. This is a really cool feature. I would have given the phone 5 stars if it would have worked out of the box without the upgrade. I was pleasantly surprised by the Chinese customer service. There was a one day lag between communications but they were always responsive. It always cracks me up when customer service people from other countries use names that are clearly alias', my representative used the name Kiki. Never met a Chinese person named Kiki.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Phone & Text without any inter-bleeping-net
This is exactly what I was looking for; a cell phone with talk & text, and no inter-bleeping-net. No wifi or GPS either, as far as I can tell. Don't get me wrong, I love the internet when I want it, but if your device can browse the internet, news-flash: the internet is browsing you, and criminals are seeing your data! I would rather not let criminals know where I am all the time. For example, if they know you are not home, your home may be burglarized. This phone is just the right size, not too big, and not too small. Truly easy to use. The 4GLTE signal is strong, everywhere I have been (T-Mobile account), and to my surprise, even the FM radio gets good reception without earpieces plugged in using the built-in speaker. It gets good battery life, and the provided charging dock is nice. The sound is good, and the screen is plenty bright, even on the lowest setting. The only slight negative so far is the key-lock slider on the side doesn't completely lock the keys, and the power-on by pressing the hang-up key 3 seconds still powers it on when the lock is on!? I'm not sure how much it will do with the lock on before powering it on, but if I turn the lock on after the phone is powered on (not before), it seems to lock it from doing anything. I haven't tried the micro-SD card yet, but I have ordered a 16GB (Max size allowed) card to add my music and maybe a few pictures. I will be careful not to put anything on the card I don't want to be uploaded to the internet, because I have no way of knowing if this phone might actually be able to do that without me knowing it. I bought a "T-Mobile Official SIM card" from Amazon, and online T-Mobile said I had to call them, and when I did, they said they could activate that SIM card for a pre-paid plan ($15 per month unlimited talk/text & 2GB data) but it would have to billed separately from my Data-only hotspot post-paid account (MiFI M2000 5G 2GB per month at $10) which I think had to be "Post-paid" because I'm also paying for the MIFI 5G M2000 over 24 months at $14 per month. On the Post-paid account they don't offer the $15 per month phone plan, but they gave me a $20 per month for unlimited talk/text and 0 Data, and they required me to accept a new SIM card shipped by them to me, so the Amazon-purchased SIM card was a waste, and in order to get it fast I had to pay $11.99 for next-day shipping of the T-Mobile pre-activated SIM card, and they charged me $30 activation fee for combining it with my existing T-mobile data-only plan. I am happy with the result, but I did get an unwanted text from T-Mobile with some kind of command code trying to enable internet on my phone, and I certainly hope that didn't actually enable internet snooping. I am assuming this phone actually cannot do internet transfers. Someone please let me know if it can.
