The Sandlot is easily one of the top three movies of my childhood ...
The Sandlot is easily one of the top three movies of my childhood along with The Goonies and The Princess Bride. Now that I'm a parent myself, I have passed my love of The Sandlot on to my own children. Honestly, it works as well today as it did back in 1993 when it was first released. In a world with on demand movies via Prime and Netflix with literally thousands of movies and shows to choose from at any give moment, our family finds itself go back to The Sandlot over and over again.

Good Storyline; Bad Language
I enjoyed the story of this movie, which I had gotten for the grandkids. Especially the talented boy who took the bullied boy under his wing. In the good ways, it was a chance to remember what it was like to be a part of the neighborhood after-school "gang", but it what ruined by children using foul language. Anybody who grew up in an era where there were still baseball games like these played between neighborhood children, instead of the highly driven kids sports of today; and when it was an era when children were actually safe to play away from their yards in vacant lots, knows children didn't use foul language as portrayed in this movie and the way they do today. Mouths were washed out with soap, and it just wasn't done. I wondered if this film was based on a true story. It's a shame about the language because I won't be sharing what would otherwise be a fun and great kids' story with the grandkids or anybody else's kids.

Excellent family movie
It's taken me a while to finally get around to watching this. Such a great family movie. Really a timeless classic, though younger children will likely never heard of Babe Ruth. Great opportunity for a history lesson on baseball. Sooo entertaining!

Could be the greatest baseball movie of all time!
I loved it when I was a kid and it has held up over time, my kids think it's the best baseball movie too!

80s babies STAND UP!
Favorite movie from my childhood! Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez was like an motivator to me growing up, where I felt like "Smalls". Nowadays, with all of this change in technology, and interests of the children of today, I encourage parents to show their kids movies like this : )

Excellent film; too many $***$
What a classic youth baseball movie! Such a great story, with great acting by all the kids. Sort of a Stand By Me-type of movie in that the kids and their adventures are the main characters and stories, except The Sandlot story is light-hearted and extremely funny. My only complaint is the language; specifically, the use of the "s-h" word. My 5 and 7-year old boys LOVE this movie, but I cringe and try to mute the two or three times the boys drop the "sh" bomb. Of course, I realize, much like the characters in the movie, such language is unfortunately prevalent among young kids. Still, as a parent, it causes me pause whenever they beg "Sandlot, Dad! Let's watch Sandlot!"Such enthusiasm for a baseball movie set in the 1950s tells you how great the movie is, and how both kids and adults will find it entertaining. As long as you don't mind a little profanity.

The Sandlot
Great movie to reminisce by. tells the story of a bunch of kids growing up and baseball is the common thread. Scotty Smalls has moved to California with his mom and step dad, and wants to learn to play baseball. The neighborhood baseball guru Benjamin Rodriquez takes Scotty under his wing, and soon he's part of the local baseball buddies. They have typical 60's folklore based adventures involving baseball, tree house sleep-ins, the desirous "older" lifeguard at the local pool, the snooty rival Little League ball team (uniforms and all), and the traveling fair. The chewing tobacco scene is priceless.Beyond the fence at the back of the sandlot menaces a legendary ball-eating dog called The Beast, and the kids inevitably must deal with him... and what lies ahead."You're killing me Small's" is the catchphrase of the movie.

A classic movie for kids of all ages!
We are trying to get into non animated movies in our house (our kids are 2, 4, 6) and we tried this the other night. I wasn't sure how they'd do with it...but ALL of them watched the entire thing. Our 4 year old who is quite restless (what 4 year old boy isn't?!?!), actually sat on my lap and didn't move for the entire movie (and no...he did not fall asleep! haha). We had to explain some things to them (for example, they don't know who Babe Ruth was and the significance of the ball...but my daughter sure knew that it was naughty for that boy to take his dad's ball and was quite upset by it!) We will definitely be watching this classic again!

A kids' film with all the joy, innocence and good humour of a time long past.
As a pensioner, you may find it hard to believe that I could enjoy a film of this type and style. This is the story of a new boy to the neighbourhood who initially has problems settling in but is soon taken under the wing of a gifted baseball player and his pals. They play baseball for the shear joy of the game, rarely keeping score. Losing their ball in scrap yard defended by a 'monster' of a dog is only part of the story. We watch the kids going through some of the early stage sof adolescence and you might just recognise some of the problems they faced having been a child once yourself. Now, let's think about getting the sequel!
